My condensor is leaking oil at the connector from the line to the compressor.
I still have A/C.
Do I wait till I have no A/C to replace the seal?
Add a can of seal stop leak?

Do I need to add more oil? How do you tell how much oil is needed.
Its R134.

yup, went through the same old thing. Debated, looked at various gauges, read all the warnings, pondered, discussed, researched, investigated the pressures, signs etc, and then finally just popped a can of 134 in there, fully aware that I should not do it. So far, so good....

The semi shop where I work just got a R134 recharge and evac. Snapon system. I should just have then evac it, change the seal and fill it.
This way (if I get up there before it leaks out) the system will not retain moister.

Kurt,

When freon leaks to the atm, compressor oil also follow it's path and attracts dust around the leaks. I would change out all o-rings while having the system evacuated though as these are harden when they age and promote leakage.

Frank.

You can get a a/c guage (looks like a tire air pressure guage at parts store.
TOOOOOO MUCH PRESSURE WILL KILL YOUR COMPRESSOR.
I told the this to a guy but he didn't listen. His compressor went along with the clutch. It was on a Caravan with one belt. He ended up trading it in as the cost was more that the van was worth.

Mine had the exact oil/dust leak around the metal line/condensor joint. Got an O ring free from the Toyota parts counter (gotta have the old one in your hand to find right size and must be oil resistant), and had the system evacuated and refilled for $75. That was 50,000 miles ago and no oil leaks plus system blows ice cubes. Don't let the dealer tell you you need all new parts - just replace the O ring yourself and bring it in for the recharge.

Mine too

Both of my condenser connections were dirty/oily. I wipped them clean, tightened both and crossed my fingers while I added a can of 134a. That was 1000 miles ago and ....so far....so good. Before adding the 134a, my AC was blowing mildly cool air at best. Now it is cold as ice.
