Anyone planning to head to the Pinehurst Concours next weekend? If so, check out this deal....http://www.groupon.com/deals/pinehurst-concours-d-elegance

Should be pretty amazing if you love old, rare cars. The list that's out so far is quite impressive, despite the fact that no 40s will be there. :)

I have been twice in Savannah GA and it is pretty spendy to get in. Only reason I have gone is becuase of the Military Discount. Definitely worth it at least for the first time. Some pretty amazing vehicles and boats.

Check out the link-it's for a groupon so the price is really discounted. Full price tix are a bit pricey.

I was planning on going. Thanks for posting the groupon.

I am big Porsche fan (early lightweight 911's).

I might hit Uwharrie (4wheeling and mountain biking) on Saturday and then camp and go to Pinehurst on Sunday morning on the way back.

Amy told me about it at the show Saturday (army green 40). It's a heck of a deal.

I am excited to see the gullwings and the 1937 Buggati! Looks like there are quite a few Porsches. Love the really old ones too! Let me know if you make it, I'll be there.

If you like the early 911's check out this ride, belongs to a close friend back home. Not a clone! Genuine RSR, German Spec. I thought that I was going to meet Jesus the first time I rode in it.

I used to be into 356's before they got too expensive. Tried to leave the Cruiser cult and could not stay away. Sold mine on the way up. Should have kept it longer.

We'll be out there in the morning. Unfortunately, I have to fly in the afternoon. If you haven't wandered much down in Pinehurst, Weekends after the pollen goes away are like car shows themselves. Lots of classics. There is a dark green 356 Cabrio in the village occasionally that'll make your teeth hurt.

We have been to Monterey during car week and the experience just wandering through town or at the hotel was better than the concourse. I am hoping it turns out that way down here this week.

We were going to take in the auction on Saturday, but Lyle Lovett will be up in Cary.

Hope to see you guys out there. We'll have the top and doors off Cadet if the weather cooperates. The drive back down from Raleigh Saturday was nice. (Tip: take 401 down to Fuquay, grab a beer and ribs at Aviator Brewing Co., and then hit 42 down to Sanford. gorgeous drive even with rain clouds building.)

Thanks for sharing the groupon, I took advantage also.

I'm hoping to drag Regina down at least Sunday, hope to see some of the auction on Sat also. I'll probably be on the bike, just because...

Monterey and Carmel are awesome. Love the PCH around there as well. My wife and I drove up from LA to SF and stopped there for a few days. Amazing place. My good friend Wisam is at the language school there right now and loves living there.

If I had to pick a place to retire...better start saving up now.

I grew up in Los Gatos, moved to Santa Cruz as soon as I was an adult, few places better than the Monterey Bay. Both of my daughters were born there, I've ridden my bicycle from Santa Cruz to LA along Hwy 1 four times, can't say how many times I've driven it.

My mom worked the Monterey event for many years, I love that part of the country...

MTBCoach - I agree, the only two places that I've been to that even came close were Tahoe and Zambales Philippines where I grew up as a kid at San Miguel Naval Communication Station. The reef and ocean there were amazing. Have not been to a beach since that held a candle to it.

That RSR is amazing. Is it in States?

My dad was doing the midlife crisis thing when I was 16. I was able to learn to drive in a 1973.5 911T. Had the bug ever since. Love the sound and smell of those early 911's.

Headed down Sunday morning from Raleigh if anyone wants to join me.

Yea, that pic was taken in my driveway on the way to cars and coffee. I have never seen my friend drive that car without a big ear to ear grin on his face.

I like the early T and S very much as well. Several of my close friends were into them. Being the huge genius that I am, many years ago I turned down great deals on rusty 1971 911S and 1965 356 Cabriolet project cars to work on rusty FJ40 projects instead... Who knew? It kills me what they would be worth now.

Meh, like the 40's more anyway.

Sad but true, traded the unreliable 911T for uber reliable MR2 in 1987. The 911 was in mint condition and signal orange. The 911 vapor locked in the heat and no one back then knew how to correct it and this was before Al created the Internet and I lived out in Johnston County. Bringing the 911 to Raleigh got old and those guys couldn't fix it either.

That got me on the road to Toyotas. Now just need to make the switch to a FJ or a BJ. I am thinking a BJ73 or BJ74 will be replacing the 100.

Yea, that Kugelfischer MFI is not for the faint of heart. I learned that the hard way. My friend Wisam and I tried to mess with the Kugelfischer on my 72 2002 tii and it was a total disaster. Even with the 4 gas machine at his shop, we could get it back to where we started. Had it to tow a MFI specialist and $300 dollars later, the car ran like never before. It felt like the front wheels would come off the ground after the pro's got theirs hands on it. Not a DIY thing to mess with but when dailed in it really screams.

We had a 87 MR2 as well - fun car, wife spun it bad in the rain and got scared of it after that. Replaced it with an S2000 and she spun out on it as well! Thankfully, she has calmed down a bit.

My MR2 was an 85 and I spun it the first night in the rain in front of my friends house. I was outside washing the mud off of it when my parents came out. I never mentioned it even thou there piles of mud under a car that just came from the dealer lot. ;<) Very lucky.

The 73.5 had CIS which was a pain as well. The guys in Raleigh never got it right. I remember those guys mumbling that they wished it was MFI at the time. The shop was on Capital near peace street. The shop has been long gone.

Sounds like your wife and I drive the same way! She needs a Miata! I've never spun mine although I have done some (unintentional ;) ) sideways sliding. You just can't help yourself in those little cars-they are too much fun to drive fast!
