@2fpower what brackets did you use? I have a line on a pair of '90 911 seats for nottalottamoney....Planted?
(I'll prob pay more for planted brackets than these if I buy them)
These have the slides.
Were you able to bolt on female seatbelt buckle? Assume they wired up fine?

They look great. Hope you like them installed!

I put the female side of seatbelt from stock seats onto these seats.

I used the sliders from the porsche seats and welded or bolted them to brakets I made to mount to the stock locations.

Mine were not power, so only wire I did was for the seatbelt on driver seat. I did add seat heaters; however that is totally different.

I should point out that the new way I do seats is to cutoff the two rear mounts from the old seats, bolt those in the car, then put a 1/4 steel between these two points. That will give you a very flat even surface to then set your seat on, then make a front mount and do similar with it. Then see if the seat is at the angle you want it. you can raise or lower the rear as needed. The front should be as low as possible.

Also, every seat that I have installed you have to beat the everlasting crud out of the seat structure "hump" near the tranny tunnel. I typically pull the battery terminal off so I don't set off the airbag. YES that much damage needed with 5 lb sledge.

Picked up seats out of a 2005 Acura TSX about a year ago. Leather, Power, and Heated added switches for em today. Welded up a frame for mounting them. They are a bit a bit wide, they do fit. I am 6'4 they feel great, have taken them out for some long trips.

Figured I would add my contribution. 2009 Subaru WRX seats. Picked them up for $200 from the local auto dismantlers. A bit dirty but in great shape.

Rear legs from the OEM seats were cut off and welded to the rails of the WRX seats.

New mounting points made for the front.

The Subaru belt buckles won't fit the Land Cruiser seat belts but you can easily swap in the OEM buckles. But they are very short compared to where the WRX buckles sit. So I cut off the WRX buckle and welded them OEM buckle to the mount. Now they sit at the right height.

Very cool!!!!

Granted I’m too lazy so I put LC cloth seats in instead. However I tried few peoole’s Seat swap and they all ended up with the bottom cushion higher than factory and my head hitting the roof.
Just FYI, I'm 6'4" and my Disco II seats do not cause this issue.

Thanks for the compilation of seat options. What was not discussed are some of the parameters while shopping for swaps. For example, some common variables would be seat width, overall height, bottom seat height, mounting and clearance. I'd expect nearly all need some mods to the bases and maybe chassis mount points to get a secure fit. Anything else to put on the checklist?

You're correct. I haven't seen any that are a direct bolt in swap, so all will require some level of modification, mainly the seat mounts. The most critical thing to look for IMO is the width of the seat rails. IIRC the factory seats have a width of 21" between the rails (someone can correct that if I'm mistaken). Finding seats that have rails that are close to that can simplify things when making new mounting brackets.
The Jetta seats I have in my cruiser have about the widest rails that will still work. I still needed to modify the floorboard near the trans hump for clearance on the inner rail and the door pocket makes light contact with the outer rail.

I was curious about the seats that come out of cars vs SUVs/trucks. Do the car seats naturally put you at a lower level? The one nice thing about the 80 seats is that you sit higher, almost like sitting on a dining chair. Do the car seats provide this feature also?

I don't think there is a general rule that car seats will have a lower seating position. I know my Jetta seats have a slightly higher seating position than the stock seats (about 1" higher). Personally I think you should look for the lowest profile seats possible and adjust to get seat height where you want it with how you fabricate the mounting brackets.

Anyone swapped in heated/cooled seats from something a bit newer? Late model lexus/bmw....?

Looking at a swap or FJ60Cams leather/cooler setup.

BMW seats in 1994. Homemade brackets and some cutting involved. More pics in my build thread on page 4. Link in my signature.

How are you liking this ones sir?
I’ve only had them in a couple days, but so far I really like them. Much more comfortable than the previous seats I had in there- Corbeau Baja xrs. I think I sit slightly higher than the stock seats but I don’t mind.

One thing I have noticed is minivans seats often have built-in arm rests, quite comfortable due to the low center console. I guess one could mod it with a raised padded landing to rest your arm. The other feature I finding useful is seat adjustments beyond just sliding and tilt. Adjustable lumbar, seat, and other adjustments make the seat far more comfortable.

@BayArea80 - would this individual or company make brackets for others on Mud? I think I'd buy the brackets first, then shop for the seats. The fact that I've got 0 metal fab skills means I am more concerned about finding the brackets. ;)

Also, were you able to hook up all the extra electrical stuff for the seats, making them fully functional?

EDIT: I read your post, like I should've done before quoting/posting. Duh. Looks more involved than buy a bracket, cut some wires for a harness, and bolt in. I may never tackle this......

Here's my contribution. Audi B8 S5 seats out of two separate wrecked S5's. Power, heated, adjustable lumbar support. Nearly an identical bracket to what Jose has, you'd think we had the same person make it...that's because we did.

Glad to find this thread. I need to find a set of 1st gen Sequoia cloth seats for my 80. The 80 seat back bolsters poke into my lower rib cage too much. Shame because the seat bottom is very comfortable.

The 80 seats are nice for us slender dudes but I know many of my 80 friends don't appreciate these seats. Some complain of their thighs getting squeezed and others don't hit the lumbar just right.

My wife and I just had a 2017 Jetta rental car. I loved the seats. All manual and super comfortable. I’d like to throw some of them in.
