I am looking at 2 2001 tacomas. They are both ACC cabs. The first one is a TRD V6 auto with 113000 miles. The second one is the 2.7 5 speed with 135000 miles. Both are 4x4. The TRD rear bumper is pretty rusted up. Questions I have- are the ACC cabs big enough to put car seats back there? What should I look for when test driving these vehicles? They are both stock so what is fuel mileage? Other things you can think of. Please comment. Thanks

Another question is does anyone make an after market rear bumper for them. I looked on ARBs website and found nothing.

Carseat shouldn't be an issue on the passenger side. Driver may be harder.

I got 18 regularly and 21 on hwy when stock. I drive moderately.

Not sure on the VIN check.

I bought a nice rear bumper from Front Range Offroad, finished in black. Top notch quality and put it on in 10 minutes. There is not much room in Back of an ACC.

If you have an infant the rear-facing seats are never going to work if someone has to sit in the front seat too. Forward-facing is OK at best. My daughter is six and in a booster it's getting pretty tight for her. The V6's were rated for 19 highway when they were new. I've had 4 of them and they all seem to average around 15 around town and 18-19 highway for me. The 4 cylinders do get slightly better mileage but it's pretty noticeable drop in power too. If you have more than one kid buy a double cab. I'm sure there are plenty of aftermarket bumpers out there to suit your taste. I see lots of rotted bumpers. Although mine on my 96 is original on a new england truck with 260k on it. Go figure.
