I realise that this is beyond comparison of apples and oranges.

Im looking at a new FJ and a used 100k+ km 200 series. The FJ is significantly cheaper.

The only thing putting me off the FJ is the interior. I could get over the interior if the ride was as comfortable as the 100 or 200 series.

Opinions welcome.

The interior (at least for the front seats) is very roomy in the FJC, which is nice if you are a tall person such as myself.

I've never owned a 100 or 200-series Land Cruiser, so I couldn't compare ride and comfort. I like the ride and handling of my FJC very much; more so after I upgraded the suspension with Icon coilovers in the front and OME springs and shocks in the rear. The stock suspension was fairly soft; I prefer a firmer ride for the better handling.

seats up front are comfortable and roomy for me, but everyone has different ideas of comfortable. Drove up to Arctic Ocean and back (6,000 miles) and was comfortable the whole way.

Thanks for the replies.

Soft sounds good to me...I have to drive 10km of poorly graded murram just to get to the tarmac.

I suppose (hope) an almost new FJ should be more reliable over the next few years than a high mileage 200 LC which may have spent a lot of that time on corrugated roads and will need more major service?

The good news is, both are made in Japan (build quality is better in my opinion), so I wouldn't discount high mileage on either. I have/used to have some very high-mileage Land Cruisers. Currently on my 2007 FJC, I have a 180,000 miles (a lot of them on rough oil field lease roads), and have done no repairs at all that I didn't break myself. Still runs and drives as good as new. Does not leak or burn any oil between extended mileage oil changes - more than I can say for my older Land Cruisers.

Defo a commonality here with Toyota products in general. I know former FJ drivers who went to LC's for the 4 doors, they had young kids. The LC's are more family friendly with more comfy back seats. Im not sure the rear view is any better though. I have a 2012 TTSE and have 56k on it. Love it. I have no reason to change to LC. My son is 14 and he wants a 4x4 Tacoma in 2 years, so he can wheel with us, can't argue that.

Comfort wise, along with utility I think both can get the job done.

To me it comes down to how often you'll 2+ passengers and/or a demand for storage capacity beyond what the FJC provides.

I have both... There is not comparison when it comes for comfort... 200 series is a 85,000 truck... I have travelled well over 15,000 miles of just road trips with the 200 some legs driving a full 12 hours 200 is just wonderful.... Fjc is good but after 3-4 hours I feel beat up compared to the 200. FJC is much smaller for off road 200 is huge... 2 different vehicles

Luckily there are endless suspension options for both vehicles, and you can setup the suspension on the FJC very well to give you the comfort you need while on those crappy roads.
