Anyone up for a Colorado trip? It could be a Colorado/Moab trip too.

I bought a book "Guide to Colorado Backroads & 4-Wheel Drive Trails". It's amazing the amount of cool trails in Colorado. I had no idea. It is off roading heaven.

If we planned it for 2015, that would be plenty of planning time.
If we spark any interest in going sooner, there's a slight possibility I could pull something off.

Ahhhh I've been talking about doing the mountains of Co. For a while now... I'm in for Colorado For sure in summer 2015. I'll likely pic up an 80 series by then. Last summer I was in aspen the off road guys there said you could be in the mountains for months and never see the same trail twice. I'll be in aspen again in a few weeks (July 4th) I'll see if I can ask around for trails, maps, recommendations etc.

Charlie, since you guys would go again, here's your opportunity

I wanna see some of those sheep with the big horns that live up on top of the Colorado mountains.
Now those are some real rock crawlers.
Yeah, Sheep:bounce:

Good idea. Bret should be quite familiar with Colorado trails by then too.

Keep good notes; my current project ends spring 2016 and plan on a looong Colorado, Utah exploration.

It would be nice to have at least five days to wheel. It all depends on the location we pick to wheel.

Mdan, I'd love to join you in August, but I can't pull off a vacation then. I'm using up my vacation time as we speak. I'm headed out west on a road trip right now.

If we do Moab, it's much better to go there pre-summer. Even in June it gets too hot.

May/June seems to be a good time to go to Colorado. Bret, What's your opinion on which months are best for Colorado?

Based on a very brief history thus far, the passes in the areas I have been to so far have been closed due to snow and ice. The areas I have seen would likely be great once the aspens start to turn. The best weather wise would be early fall, but that would be the busiest. During the week would be better, but there is a LOT of transient RV traffic.
