I will be in Colorado Springs this week for family vacation. I won't have a lot of time to do much wheeling but I would like to take the family up into the mountains. Nothing real difficult but would like to get up as high as possible for the scenery. Any recommendations?

Hello. A really great trip would be to go up to the top of Pike's Peak. It goes all the way to the top and its not a tough drive at all. There are a number of good trails near Colorado Springs. I would go to www.traildamage.com and you there are a number of trails that you can try. Look for trails in El Paso County.

Hope that helps.

Traildamage.com is always my go to site for info and GPS tracks. Great site.
Tried driving up Pikes Peak earlier this week but it was closed about 3/4 of the way up so we took the train since we all wanted to get to the top. Tried to drive Rampart Range road to Garden Of The Gods the next day but the road was closed. Tomorrow we are doing Mount Baldy with the 80 and my Jeep Liberty. Should be fun.
