I'm new to MUD but have been a lurker for the past year. Knowing this is a solid enthusiast community I figure can provide additional no BS info beyond what is in the Craigslist ad. Anyway, I purchased in April of this year for $7000 from a dealer in Utah, believing that the only issue it had was that the AHC didn't work. According to the Carfax it has lived in Washington, Utah and Idaho (and now Colorado) it's entire life and I am the 4th owner in 22 years. I had been watching values go up for months, and my intent was to do some maintenance, and a basic overland build and then re-sell for a little profit. I ultimately decided to take it to Stevinson Lexus figuring they would be 'best' at taking a stab at the AHC. In paying them to diagnose the AHC they also had the master mechanic do a full inspection, which uncovered some other things that needed to be addressed to the tune of over $5k. I could have saved some going to another shop but I wanted everything done right, and getting a free Lexus loaner car for a week helped in the process. Other shops like Slee were also quoting a 2 month wait, or just turning away the work period.
However, that blew my overland build budget, and I never intended to keep this as a daily driver. I now have about $13k invested and feel that $9,999 is a fair ask given recent values and the work that has been put in to it. I'm getting a lot of interest from people who are just looking for a cheap Toyota/Lexus, but my feeling is the eventual buyer will be someone who is a 100 Series enthusiast and knows what they are buying.
Items completed by Stevinson:
-New Front Axle Boots
-Re-pack front wheel bearings
-Replaced rear brake pads and turned rotors
-Replaced radiator fan clutch
-Replaced broken wheel studs
-Replaced Thermostat, thermostat gasket, lower radiator hose, T-Fittings, and flushed coolant.
-AHC - replaced wiring from rear solenoid valve to wiring harness.
-Replaced Valve Cover gaskets and spark plug tube seals (both sides)
-Alignment
-Replaced cylinder 2 and 3 Ignition Coils.
The good:
-The above and that all other inspected items passed at Stevinson. I have the inspection report available.
-Runs strong and smooth.
-AHC works and Stevinson tested that it function to specifications.
-No leaks
-No warning lights
-No known drivability or powertrain issues.
-A/C works
-Paint is generally in great shape except for a few problem areas noted below.
-No accident history, Clean Carfax
-Overall interior is in great shape except for a few areas noted below.
-Two functional keys.
-Averaging 15.4 MPG in mixed driving which is on par with what it would have been when new.
The Not so good:
-Will need tires in about 5-10,000 miles.
-No owners manual
-Parking brake doesn't work-disconnected by Stevinson (Stevinson quoted ~$800 to run a new parking brake cable).
-Radio antenna (motor works but is currently disconnected)
-Paint is peeling in some spots on the lower plastic body cladding, and a couple minor rust spots on body.
-Minor damage to rear license plate trim area, chrome peeling from trim above license plate (in photos)
-Driver's seat, passenger seat, and steering wheel show wear.
-interior niggles ~ climate vents won't rotate, climate control buttons all work but sometimes take more than one push to register.
-Not at all like one of those rust-belt vehicles, but has some minor surface rust on under-body, nothing structural.
