I have done a search on here but could not find the info I needed. I have a 3f gas engined Cruiser, standard carb and dissy etc.

Its a real pain when I first start it up. Even with the manual choke full out it will not tick over. When i put my foot flat to the floor to pull away it sometimes backfires thru the carb and dies. Other times it only runs on 3 or 4 cylinders.....This happens for the first 5 mins and is a real pain to drive with....Leaving me stranded across intersections etc

Once it is warm (after 5 mins or so) its perfect, no problems at all....

Any ideas what I should do???

You ever rebuilt the carb? Check and make sure the choke plate is actually moving closed all the way. Might have a small vacuum leak until it warms up and seals.

Let it warm up...it takes mine at least 15 minutes to get happy and my carb is new! Just like an old person it needs time!:)

I crank it to get some fuel to the carb. Pump it 7 times or so. Then let it sit for about 20 seconds. Then start her up. This was after sitting for about a month, with no heat riser (I cut it up to fit a snorkel), and an average temperature of probably 40-50 degrees Farenheit. I let it sit and idle for about 5 minutes and she usually runs like a champ.

Thanks for the info guys......

Trying to get a carb rebuild kit here in Ecuador is very hard and expensive. Anyone know of any good mail order places in the USA? I would let it sit and warm up but it will not tick up over, this means I have to sit in it and keep the revs high which I don´t like doing first thing.

How should I start a 3f engine warm/cold. Any tricks?

Thanks for the help!
