Hello all! You guys have always helped with my FJ62. I miss it.... I am overseas now with a Diesel 2007 LC (most want to call it a GX70) but I have the 3 liter D4D diesel version... Its a 2007 model....
1- At 29 degrees F the rear lock stopped working. The Toyota man said to replece them. REALLY at 80K, a garaged car before me, I have to change the actuatos.. Is this LC????
2. For 3 days now I havent started the car at minus 20 celcius. Then when it catches a huge black cloud comes out really...... For a LC that they take to the poles wtf? And that takes 20 mins of the glow plugs heating.. HELP PLEASE...
3. I trid to drive the LC today... The clutch was stuck like butter... What do u guys think. The local mechanic said it was ok . But not for a LC dude.. Whats going on guys???

Any help is greatly appreciated as I am lost without u guys. Thank u always... HELP
Sincerely, Graham

1. I think you probably have a VERY cold environment so the locks are likely not properly lubed at this point (grease break down) and it is suffering in the cold. I would either replace them OR R&R them with some good low temp tolerant lube.
2. Do you have a block heater and plug? This is normal if you just use the glow plug. I would add or use the block heater to get it ready to start (plug it in overnight and it keeps the oil from becoming sludge). Also, make sure you have the right low viscosity oil for cold weather use.
3. This also sounds like cold. If moisture gets into the clutch from driving it can freeze and cause some symptoms. If you keep it warm and let it warm up to operating temps in extreme cold it gives it a chance to thaw and shouldn't have a problem.

Cold weather problems :(

Thanks for the response.
1.I am shocked that a 2007 car that was 100K new here, has lock actuators started to fail at -2 degrees....
2. 80K miles and one or more of the glow plugs is failing...
3.Even in Extreme cold... I have to figure out a solution for the clutch on a LAND CRUISER...
I miss my FJ62 back in the states all...
