Coil wiring (1 Viewer)

I'm not getting spark so I replaced the coil. I couldn't see the positive and negative on the old coil. I ended up wiring it wrong. I had the hot wire going to the negative. I swapped the wires and now I'm getting 6v at the coil when I was getting 12v. Is this correct?

Has the engine turned over and the points are now closed?
Maybe some corrosion at your ignition switch connector? What happens if you bypass it direct from battery?
