Curious if anyone bought this kit, the one you weld to the frame, for the 80 series? I bought 2 kits at the same time, one for a 3rd gen 4runner and my 80 series. We did the 4runner first and it fit perfect. However, when doing the 80 series there is considerably more work that is needed, apparently. The frame on the 80 curves inward at the back wheel and it's recessed above the bottom of the rocker panel. This requires a great deal of work to build mounts for the frame. On top of that the frame is so far inward at the front door I need to source additional material to even be able to bridge the gap. I didn't realize so much work was required to get these to work, as nothing was mentioned on the ad. And since you are required to provide the info for your vehicle to ensure fitment, I assumed there would be some tailor made bits for that vehicle.

So, is this just how it is or did I get the wrong stuff for my 80 series?

No experience with them but looking at the pics the pieces would be specific to position. You sure you didn’t mix up the 4runner stuff?

Why not reach out to Costal Offroad ?
They should be able to shed some light.

I sent a note to CA and got a reply today. Basically they said I got the correct stuff and either have to fab up a custom mount, or preferably, reroute my exhaust(!). This wasn't mentioned in the ad, and I opened both kits before I started welding up the 4runner to see if there was a difference. Other than the length of the main runner the two kits were identical. It's good quality stuff, but I'm not pleased to have to do all of this. Nearly $700 and still have to fab up a custom way around the exhaust. Thankfully I have a bunch of extra 2x2 tube and a chop saw else this would have been an event bigger pain in the a55.

Yup, I put these on a friend's 80 and had to do custom work around the cats, and I also needed more tubing as I wanted 4 attachment points to the frame per side as I wanted the the middle 2 to line up with the slider cross bracing
