We have been looking into the arrangements for our Christmas Party.
Four possibilities are:
- Elephant & Castle Pub at Delta Inn, Richmond.
-Rhino's Pub in Coquitlam
-Frankie G's Boilerhouse in New Westminster
-Firefighter's Hall in Burnaby.

The tentative date will be Friday, December 9, unless you would prefer Sat Dec 10, but we have to make our minds up very soon.

Today I visited the Elephant & Castle in Richmond and it looked pretty good. There is a pub on the main floor similar to the old Doc Marlin's we used to go to. There is an upper mezzanine area that looks over the pub. This mezzanine would hold our group and the club kitty would pay for the mezzanine. It has two pool tables and a couple of pinball type video machines. A bartender would be there in the mezzanine and you buy your own drinks. When its time to eat, we would go downstairs and they would cordon off a pub area for us. They could offer us three choices for dinner: turkey, Yorkshire stuffed with beef, or a vegitarian stir fry. They would all come with salad or soup, pumkin pie and coffee. We have not been told yet the prices of the meal, as we are still negotiating. After we eat, we can go back upstairs to the mezzanine for our raffle and any club announcements.
Could I please have some feedback on what you think of this? I don't have time to check out the other three locations, some of you who live in those areas could let me know.

I've spent some time at the Firefighters club, but not lately. Don't know bout the food these days, but I can find out if there is interest.

The place you visited today sounds great by me Bill.

I can attend this year, however am working that day, so all depends on late calls. Be gone early too, as I work Sat day as well. That's a long way of saying count me in...anywhere it is.

the olliphunt and castle has good grub..nice and close to the club house. good draft beer selection to!

aint been to rhinos, so no comment

have hoisted a few on numerous occasions at Frankie G's..foods pretty good to.

My office use to have its Xmas partys at the firefighters club (before my time tho)..and I recall going there once when I first joined the club for an xmas party...or was that a meeting..way down in the basement?

Thanks Bill, I dont know any of these locations. I do prefer the pub atmosphere tho.

The Elephant & Castle with the balcony area and pool tables sounds good. Would give us our own little pub for the night, instead of being stuck at tables... which means less mingling.

I think regardless of locations WE ARE ALL GOING TO HAVE AN EXPENSIVE CAB RIDE HOME.

Bummer for me - that looks like the only weekend in December I won't be around.
That makes it official - I'm going to miss every single meeting in 2005!

I hope to make it. Guess I will pay my dues to become an official Coastal Cruiser.

I like the Richmond idea, and I agree with Blue Bandit, nice to be able to mingle instead of stuck at a table.

OK Coastal Cruisers, the arrangements have been made: Christmas Party at the Elephant & Castle in Richmond on Friday, December 9, 05. The E&C is located on the river in a round building behind the Delta Hotel at 3500 Cessna Drive. So, if you came from Vancouver over the Airport Bridge, you bear right around the S curve. Then you turn left at the big intersection traffic light at the corner of Miller Road and Russ Baker Way. That puts you on Cessna and the hotel is right there. Parking is free if you write your vehicle license number on a piece of paper and give it to staff at the entrance to the pub. Doors open at 6:30 and dinner served at 7:30. Our club treasury will pay for the dinners, but we need each person to pay $10. for the rental of the upstairs mezzanine room which we will have exclusively for the whole evening. There will be a bartender up in our mezzanine room and we buy our own drinks. WHAT A DEAL! :flipoff2:

We will eat in our own area of the pub downstairs at 7:30 and return up to our mezzanine whenever we want. The menu will be a salad , main course, and dessert such as pumpkin cheese cake or pie. One main course is a choice of Roast Tom Turkey Breast with stuffing, Roast Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Veggies. Second choice is Yorkshire Beef, also with Potatoes and Veggies. Third choice is Grilled BC Salmon with Pumpkin Butter Sauce, Steamed Basmati Rice and Seasonal Vegetables. Coffee or tea will be served also.

There will be a big raffle later after dinner, $5. each ticket with lots of astounding prizes, although no winch after all. This bash will pretty well clean-out the club treasury, but hey, we’re here for a good time, not a long time! :bounce2:

NOW, WE NEED A HEAD COUNT TO PLAN FOR THIS. WHO IS COMING?
I’ve already heard from the following that they are in for this:
