The August 10 Coastal Cruiser "Russell Memorial" meeting is up Cyprus Bowl area at the second lookout parking/picnic area. We will do the photo shoot of club vehicles. Try to be there by 6:00 pm for the best available light, BYO food and loonies for parking. I can bring my little portable propane hibachie unit if that helps.
Also, has anybody figured out where future meetings will he held?

Is anyone able to post directions, or a link to directions? I've mapquested and googled, but don't feel confident enough that I will find the place.

...or if anyone is heading out from or coming through the dt area, I'd be happy to follow...

thanks...Malcolm

Malcolm I will be comming through downtown and can meet you there.

Are these "members only" events ? Would be curious to check your guys' rides out and what you're about, etc.

I won't be hurt if its a no-homers-club

Pretty sure if you show up in a supercharged LX450 no one will make you leave...

Who holds back the electric car?
Who makes Steve Gutenberg a star?
We do! We do!

Malcolm & Bizbucket:
See map at this site:

"Cypress Provincial Park
If you are driving anywhere north-west on Highway 1 (say to Whistler, or to Lighthouse Park below), you can turn off the highway at Cypress Bowl Rd. and get a spectacular vista of Vancouver..."
People are bringing propane BBQs and roasting smokies.
For more info try Google "cypress bowl north vancouver"
Non members are always invited to join us and meet the crew.

Hah. Well lets hope they don't ;)

Malcolm I live downtown as well. I grew up riding mountain bikes up and down cypress so I am sure that I would get us there if you want to convoy. Probably leave DT at 5:20 to 5:30 to be there at 6pm ? My guess is if we don't have HOV occupancy 2nd narrows is better. My motto - Never Trust Lions Gate.

Is there any mucking around to be done up Cypress, or is it strictly posing?

Have a very important meeting at 4:30, so doubt I will be able to make it by 6:00pm coming from Abby...:frown:

Have a smokie for me:beer:

Rikki's wedding gift

Here's a reminder to those who want to contribute to a wedding present for Rikki and Robi - bring some d$ . I'll bring a card to sign. If there is a gift registry (I'll ask her today), I'll take a look at the amount collected / gift costs and get something appropriate. Otherwise it will just be an "envelope".

The wedding is Friday August 18th. :princess:

Brad's mom will be there too, so if anyone wants me to pass along a message, let me know.

Hey Marcin and Bizbucket...I'm game for a convoy.

I'm right by the Wall Center (down the street from St Pauls) between Hornby and Howe.

I sent Marcin a mail but he didn't answer... maybe he's embarrassed to be seen with me in my beater instead of the Snow White grocery getter...

Regardless, my email is maljmclean@aol.com and ph 778.836.6255

hopefully we can set something up before 5 tomorrow:D

Coastal Cruiser Meeting August 10, 2006

The meeting took place at Cypruss Mountain Lookout and started about 6:00 pm. after several members enjoyed smokies and cursed hungry mosquitoes. The club photos were arranged with one of all vehicles in a horseshoe, one with owners by their vehicles, and one of just members in the club.
Members present were: Brad R, Martin S, Malcolm M, Rob Millson, Marcin C, Steve T, Rod McD, Paul K, Garr C, Dan M, Drew E, Mat R, Gary T, Traci D, Glen B, and Bill W.
Guests included Nageeb, Alan E, Alf Z and Justin.
El Presidente Mr. Steve called the meeting to order and the first item was Cruiser Days preparations. Phil S is supplying two tables, a couple of chairs, PA system, Honda generator, cables, & canopy. Rob M will bring garbage cans, bags, a banner, water, and be MC. Gary T will bring a couple of orange traffic cones and some bottled water. Jim & Lindsay will sell T-shirts and display raffle prizes. Bill W will bring a couple of traffic cones and man the membership booth. Greg B & Allstone H will hopefully be the first-aid personnel. Vendors will pay $50. for display space. Marcin C and Ania will direct traffic. Various members will help set up and tear down the equipment.
The Wheeling and camping after Cruiser Day will be organized by Rod McD and Garry C. Wheelers will meet at the Sasquach Inn at 5:00 pm and there will probably be two groups heading up West Harrison. The campsite will be at Chehalis Lake and there will be wheeling to Wilson Lake. The trip down on Sunday will be via Margaret Pass, and an opportunity to wheel at Six Feet Under, the Can Opener, and other obstacles. CB radios will use Channel 4 for communications.
The September Labour Day long weekend run is open to a club vote. Do you want to go to Big Silver Creek or go to Little Hut or beyond Pemberton? Your feedback will determine where we go. We would go Saturday, Sept 2 until Monday, Sept 4.
The final item of business was the raffle.
Mat R won the portable table and cool inflatable toy.
Brad R walked with the pro wrenches.
Drew E snagged the rad tool bag.
Malcolm M won the portable drill.
Rod McD kindly donated $50. toward next month’s raffle. So, there will be $150. in prizes. Thanks Rod! Also, we need suggestions as to what raffle prizes you think we should buy.
By 9:45 pm it was getting chilly and dark, and the mosquitoes were coming on for seconds. One by one, fifteen Cruiser beaters, drive shafts clanking, T-cases whining, slowly crawled off onto the dark forest highway, hoping to dodge the W. Van P.D. inspections and confidently expecting their brakes were up for The Cut down to the bridge. Meanwhile, nocturnal bats & bears came foraging for shriveled leftover burned smokies and ribs, hoping even to perhaps nab some tardy Cruiserhead; while slightly down below, affluent upper-level West Vancouverites streamed over Lions Gate in their gleaming Jaguars, headed for the Anoushka Shankar concert, completely oblivious to the joys of four wheeling.

One correction Bill, there wont be any cash for the next raffle.Matt was given $150 to buy prizes for the next raffle, not the usual $100.
