Hello All,

After having a nice wheeling session with Garry, Craig and the crew on Friday morning, I met up with some FjBruisers and Broke my:censor: rear axle, I can't tell for sure if its the ring and pinion or rounded axle splines...I was able to drive out at about 1-2mph to the staging area where a roll back gave it a tow for me. I new this day would come sometime....

Thanks Garry for the nice wheeling in the morning. But I will not be there Saturday. I'll let you know what the doctor (mechanic) says..

It was fun wheeling with you too! Sorry to hear about the axle! Keep us posted on what happened. Did you get into some big rocks?

Thanks again! What a great day off! Always fun to wheel with friends!

Craig

Jeff,
Sorry didn't know the trail until I looked at the map.....It broke on Crawler Ridge going up...(off of trail "D")

To me it seems like something gave way in the rear Carrier section.

Dang Matt! Welcome to the FJ Cruiser Broken Rear Club.

On a good note...I did make it to the top.

We ran 22, Camel Back, Snake bite (all three sections), all of 13, and part of 20. My carnage for the day was a few more dents, wheel wells opened up by a large rock coming out of the Quarry and on Trail 20, one of my rear brake hard lines gave up the ghost due to rust. Taking my wife along was a good thing, she now wants the 4 Runner to have a SAS so we can go more places and do crazier stuff :D

I received some GOOD news from the Dealer...They are going to cover the broken ring gear under warranty... and I should have my rig back by Thursday.

Here is a quick picture of the trail fix on the brakes

Congrats anyway. You have a good dealership there.

FJ gears

Matt- that's great news! I hope the other guys whose rear end gears broke at the event have as much luck at their dealers. Gary S

sorry guys. no pics here. I was to bizy driving I think the guys JT and I were with were impressed by our ifs builds.

I honestly think 13 is my new favoret trail 20 was looking good too but then JT had to put a end to the day.

No breakage on my end. no new dents I did give my dual cases, locker and 33's a good work out. looks like I still need some minor cutting for the 33's

Molly saw one guy doing camal back and asked what I needed to do that I smiled and said a front locker. when asked how much they cost I told her $800 + labor to install. we will see where this gets me.:)

Had a good time this year. Wanted to get over to EV to socialize but the storms saturday kept me away. Oh and don't worry, I plenty more fire water for the next trip.:hillbilly:

As much as that burned, I liked it, I will have to find a source for some of that :hmm:

we had three good days on the trails. we ran three different groups three different days but among the trails we did were 22, 21, snakebite, CV trail, two parts of O, 8, 12 in its entirety, 13, 14, 11, and a few others. Great days great weather. JT- who had the line and fittings to repair your broken brake line? The atmosphere at Echo Valley was way better than in previous years. I truly didn't hear one serious complaint and judy was around all the time. Hats off to Dave Crum for doing whatever was needed to make this happen- EV is the best choice for the main campground at Coal mine. Nothing else in the immediate area would satisfy our needs. gary S

Gary, one of the guys that was wheeling with us in a 4 Runner running 38's that used to be a show truck, his name is Greg. He just happened to have a fitting that we were able to jerry rig to plug the rear lines. I'll be pulling it apart to fix this coming week, hope the junction block is not messed up from our trail fix.
