I think I bit off a bit more than I can chew with this, so I'm putting it out there as a feeler for sale or trade. It's an 83 FJ60, low miles (157k), stock 2F and 4 speed transmission (if you know TLC's, you know this will run for 300k+ without much work or you can swap in a huge variety of engines and transmissions). It's originally blue but the paint is in rough shape. I was planning a full paint job, but alas, time and $ got away from me. It has typical cruiser rust, but it's not bad, only one rough patch near the passenger rear wheel well and the rest will sand off and be find after covered with a coat of paint. Frame is a bit rusty too, I've got POR15 I can throw in if you want it. The roof is similar condition and doesn't leak.

Interior isn't bad either, no stereo but wired for a nice one if you want. Typical tear in the driver seat, but I'll throw in a seat cover for that. I can also throw in some Boston Acoustic 6x9's if you want, I was going to drop them in the kick panels. A/C isn't hooked up, but it looks to be all there and the HVAC appears to work, including the rear heater.

Clean carfax (I can send it to you), I'm not sure if it will pass smog (we don't have it up here), though all the parts look to be there. The PO did a spring over that's in good shape. He did not, however, do the proper cut and turn on the front axle. You can get away fine by either pulling the front caster shims or grinding a bit off the ears of the front drive shaft. The kicker here is I'll also throw in a newly cut and turned housing (done by Proffitts) that just needs the guts swapped over and will make things work as they should. The truck is also on 4" Man-A-Fre Mojave springs that make it tall and wicked flexy. Shocks are Rancho 5 way adjustables. Quick guesses say you could clear 40's with this lift.

The truck sits on 37x14x17 Iroks on custom made Trailready beadlocks (the wheels originated as KMC Venoms). There are 4 tires and 5 wheels, and this setup new was over $3500. I've also got a set of 38x12.5x15 TSL's on steel wheels that I'll include at full asking price if you want them.

No bumpers mounted right now, but I'll include a stock rear and an XJ front that I was going to cut to fit if you want. Has tow hooks up front as it sits. PO claims 4.10s in the diffs, though I'm guessing 3.70's. It drives fine with them, but obviously lower would be better for serious wheeling.

Like every old cruiser, it has a couple drips, but nothing bad. Maybe a drip a day, not enough to register on the dipsticks. Starts up just like a normal cruiser, full choke and 3 pumps on the gas and it fires up and gets to operating temp quick. With the bias plys and big lift, it's not a ton of fun on the highway but it's drivable around town. Gauges work fine with the exception of the tach, which is jumpy. Speedo is off with the tires too, but what can you do.

My plan was to drop it to stock SOA height and put it on 35's, but I've got a kid on the way and don't think I'll have the time or $ to do it right. If I was to guess, I'd say a few weekends worth of time and about $300 and you'd be ready to take on almost any trail or overlanding trip you want. I don't want to get out of the sport, but I like FI more than carbs, so I'd consider trading for something a bit newer and slightly less built. I'll look at anything, so don't be afraid to ask. Considering what I paid and the $ I've put into parts I'm including, I'd like $3500 or best reasonable offer. PM on here or call/text 208-484-seven eight eight eight. Thanks,

Geoff

Forgot to mention custom high steer with all heim joints and I have a double cardan driveshaft for the front axle that was meant to go on with the properly cut and turned housing. The housing is also trussed and I have a handful of extra parts.

still

still looking to sell my bike and/or dodge to buy this from you if you still have it.. Let me know if she changes her mind about a bike haha!!

^Lol, will do. Leaning towards parting out to get it to a manageable size and keeping it, but I'll stay in touch.

Bump, I had decided to keep it but it's scaring me again. I did pick up some 4.11 3rds that I can throw in as well as a pile of other goodies (tow hooks, lights, etc.). Not in a rush, but I wouldn't mind the extra $ so I don't have to finance a new motorcycle.

I may be interested in the truck and helping you sell some of the extras. Let me know if you'd be interested. I'm in Denver too...

What do you mean exactly? I'm planning on either getting rid of all of it or keeping it all and finishing it over the winter to be ready for Cruise Moab in the spring.

Full list of extras I can throw in:

Included:
Set of stock springs (need bushings)
Cut, turned, and trussed housing
4.11 3rds
Extra 3.70 3rd that needs a rebuild (good core if you need it)
CV driveshaft for the front
8 lights (4 KC's)
Stock rear bumper, XJ front

Can be negotiated for:
60" Hilift
Smittybilt GEAR front seat covers
CB setup
Tow Strap

I was talking about bringing it down a bit from the 7+" lift you have on it now, and making it more like an expo rig. I wouldn't need a lot of the parts you listed and would sell them and give that to you as part payment. I offer because the rig as it sits is a bit out of the $ range. I know it's not a great offer, but if you needed to move it (which you have since said that you don't) it might have helped you out.

What kind of $ were you thinking? I have a love/hate relationship with this thing, and it's very hate right now, so I might be open to it.

I don't want to insult. I'll pm you so the laughter is private!

Well, my circumstances continue to degrade and I'm putting this back up if anyone's interested. The truck is now on stock 62 springs with new bushings and sitting at a much more reasonable height. Still clears the 37's and now has an MTR spare. It's on jackstands in the garage right now waiting for the front axle swap, but can be reassembled quickly. I chopped up an xj bumper that fits the front, just needs to be drilled and bolted to the frame. OEM 60 rear bumper with a drop ball on it. I haven't started it in a while, but it was running good in the fall. It appears that all the emissions stuff minus the cat is there, but with the complicated smog system, I'd recommend this goes to someone that doesn't need it.

Extras included:
Cut and turned housing for the front axle
4.11 3rds (plus the 3.70s that are in there and an extra core)
Spare front driveshaft (double cardan)
Pioneer stereo with 2 speakers (NIB, cd with an aux input)
2 Pyle Speakers
2 BA Speakers
4 KC Lights
4 off brand lights

I've got a CB setup I'd consider including, as well as possibly some Smittybilt GEAR seat covers that haven't been used much, a hilift and a tow strap. If it doesn't sell, I'll just keep working on it as time permits and hopefully get it where I want it before summer. It's probably 2 weekends of work from there, but time is short. The only thing you'd have to buy in order to get it there would be the fluids and sealants required to swap the thirds and the housings, though I was planning on a knuckle rebuild too as the status of the new housing is a bit questionable.

I'd really like to trade this for something, maybe a small truck or a cherokee or something that could be daily driven, but I'd take cash too. As I'm a little more serious, let's say $3200 OBO for now. PM on here or call/text 208-484-seven eight eight eight. Thanks,

Geoff

Just an FYI for the everyone including the poster of this thread. I just clicked the link to look at the pictures. When redirected to the image hosting site, it tried to infect my computer with a virus. When you click on the 1st picture link a message pops up saying "your computer is infected, do you wish to navigate away from this page"

Do not click anything, turn off your computer. This will not allow the virus to download, or do what ever it does. I learned this from our computer tech support at work. Hopefuly I am wrong, but I didnt take any chances when I saw the message. I turned off my computer and everything seems fine.

Really? They should just go to imageshack. I guess better safe than sorry, here's the craigslist link with a couple pics: 83 Toyota FJ60 Landcruiser Crawler

If anyone wants more I can email them too. Sorry for the inconvenience.

*EDIT* I just clicked them myself and didn't have the same issue. Not sure what happened .

I'm keeping my options open a bit, but I'm definitely still interested. I'll email you in a couple minutes.

Mostly reassembled it today and managed to strip a few of the bolts on the passenger rear wheel spacer :(. Working on getting another and it should be driveable again. Really interested in a trade for a truck or a 4runner.

On the request of a potential trader, I have put together a pretty comprehensive list of the condition of just about everything on this vehicle. If anyone wants a copy, feel free to PM me.
