So my original FJ-62 engine has died. I've priced out how much it will be to rebuild the engine and am thinking of installing a 350 V-8 engine. I know that this is a pretty common swap and am confident with this part of the plan. But I was also thinking of making the engine run off of CNG (compressed natural gas) with the rising price of gas... Thanks BUSH!!!!!

Just curious if anyone has done this before or has any advice, good or bad, about this idea.

thanks

I've looked into this a little bit. There is an outfit close to my home that does turnkey conversions on vehicles for which they have EPA approved kits. There are probably other companies with comparable services elsewhere.

TransEco Energy Corporation Home Page

I don't think they offer the kits for sale. ("Kit" may be the wrong word for the conversion they perform.) I had considered swapping in one of the engines they support (late model EFI) and then having the conversion done. I then remembered that I don't have any money.

They also operate a commercial CNG filling station.

Other Mudders have done LPG conversion with good results. This seems to be a more common conversion in the US with more options for adapter kits.

Thanks BUSH!!!!!

Sorry for the hi-jack but

Ask you representative why there hasn't been a refinery built in the past 4 decades. That and we can't drill for new sources of oil in the US is the major parts of the problem.

Hi-jack over.
