Are there any tech forums or threads on clutch replacement. As I cannot get into reverse without grinding severely and pedal is very soft all of the sudden. Had been getting real stiff after driven about 25 miles and pump the pedal and seemed to loosen up. Any suggestions or tips will be greatly appreciated.

Sounds to me like it's a problem with the hydraulic system, not with the clutch pressure plate or friction disc. The first thing to try is bleeding the clutch hydraulics. There is a bleeder screw on the slave cylinder and the procedure is much like bleeding brake hydraulics. If they are leaking fluid or fluid is leaking past the seals of the hydraulic cylinders, then you should rebuild or replace the master or slave or both. Most recommendations I read are to replace both at the same time (once one fails the other is not far behind).

Thanks for the advice. I will try that first as I really don't want to get into that clutch. If ya know what I mean.:bang:

This is almost def. a slave/master cyl. problem... bleed and go. a new slave/MC is probably gana be due soon though

put a new slave in and still no luck. Still grinding and not engaging. Bled system and adjusted to no avail. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!!:bang::bang::bang:

There is an inspection cover underneath the bell housing. Remove this the inspection cover. While you are under the truck have someone disengage the clutch (press the pedal to the floor). You should see the slave push the release arm and you should see the clutch plate pull away from the friction disk and if the truck is in neutral, you should be able to rotate the friction disk (be sure the hand brake is on and the wheels are chocked when you are under the truck). If the clutch release arm isn't moved by the slave cylinder then there is something wrong with the push rod adjustment or the master cylinder. If the release arm moves but the cluch plate doesn't move or the friction disc doesn't free up, then there may be something wrong with your clutch, or the release arm is not pivoting properly.

Why did you replace the slave and not the master?

I had replaced the master last year when I had the clutch replaced. So I was hoping that since I had not replaced the slave when I did the other job, Maybe that might be the cure. BUT NO said MURPHY!!!! I guess I will look into it tomm. I appreciate all the help. I thought I might be able to get the trans. out by myself but I am working off of a sheet of plywood with a small jack on some very rough and rocky ground. NOT GOOD:bang::bang:

This sounds really weird. The clutch/pp/TO bearing was replaced last year along with the MC and you're 100% sure you have ALL the air out of the line?

The next question is: What clutch kit did you use?
