Clutch or Tranny synchro?

88 BJ74 with H55F - Slight "hitch" (grind) as I down shift from 4th to 3rd gear unless I am way down to 1200rpm. The rest of the gear box up and down is perfectly smooth, even reverse. Any thoughts if this could be a clutch adjustment issue or might I be faced with a synchro wear problem for 3rd gear?? Opinions are appreciated. Presently a continent away from my cruiser and just obsessing about this before I get to go home. Thanks

Sounds like a syncro, what oil are you running? Running a high quality issue might alleviate the problem for awhile.

Castrol VMX-M is good and some other high end synthetics.
