I knew I had a small leak but it wasn't much of a leak. I ordered a new clutch master and got it today. I went into the garage with my neighbor to put it on and on the inside floorboard there was brake fluid all over the place. Naturally all of my fresh pint had been eaten off. DAMN!!! I scraped most of the paint and got 99% of the brake fluid up by putting baking soda on there and letting it soak it up. My question is since I have bare metal showing should I just sand the rest of the loose paint off and prime it ASAP? If so what do y'all recommend I use as a primer for rust prevention?

Yes. Get the rest of the loose paint off there and prime it ASAP with a good epoxy primer. Otherwise, that bare metal will start to rust pretty quickly. Epoxy primers will keep rust from spreading, even if the primer / paint is chipped off. Make sure you degrease the area first to get all the brake fluid and everything else off there.

Good luck!

Which brand clutch master did you use?

When was the Clutch slave cylinder and rubber hose last replaced, if they are original you may want to replace them as well. What you will find is when a new component is placed in an old system it will tend to were out the older components very fast. My Clutch master was replaced but the slave cyl. was not, the Slave cylinder lasted about three months, the best part is the Slave cyl. crapped out while I was parking in town....nothing like replacing a slave cyl. in town on a hung over Saturday morning.
