Hey fellas hows it going? I am fairly new to the landcruiser world and so far I love it. I have a 1982 FJ60 that I am giving it the love it deserves. Anyway I am getting ready to install a new clutch and rear main seal. i have done a few clutch jobs before but was just wondering if there is anything i need to know that is landcruiser specific or any tips that you guys may have. Thanks!!!! Lenny

Welcome!
Everything is straight forward. Nothing out of the ordinary. Other than the size and weight factor, it's fairly easy.
If for some reason you are going to remove the bell housing, there's some hidden bolts behind the flywheel. The flywheel will have to come off first.

The hardest part for me is balancing the transmission and transfer case on my cheapo transmission jack. Because of the "L" shape of the assembly, the balance point is tricky to get. I put a piece of plywood under the transmission/transfer case and block the assembly so it stays level.

I use a long extension for the socket to get to some of the bolts that hold the transmisson to the bell housing. I use an extension that is as long as the transmission/transfer case assembly so I can put my rachet/breaker bar behind the transfer case.

Good info...Thanks!!

Thanks for the help guys.....and yes I am taking off the flywheel b/c while I am there I want to install a new rear main seal and also check out the flywheel in case it could use some maching. So you say bolts are behind the flywheel?? Have to take a look when I get there. Again thanks for the help.

The opening at the bottom of the bell housing is big enough for the flywheel to come out w/o removing the bell housing. Good thing:D
