It's not too bad but kind of like a mild u joint going out. I had an 80 with a bad transfers case lag clunk after getting back on the throttle but this is very faint. Does your 100 have a faint clunk after getting on the throttle when coasting?

What about slight gear wine

Clunk happens hot or cold. Whine happens hot or cold. If I'm going say 50 mph let off the gas and back on the whine is more then it goes away after I gain like 5 mph. I guess the all time 4x4 I'd just geary sounding???

This is the thread to read.....https://forum.ih8mud.com/100-series-cruisers/401590-official-clunk-thunk-driveshaft-thread.html but just lube your driveshaft. I used Moly grease. It will splatter and make a mess for the next few days. It will also stink when the grease splatters onto your exhaust pipe, I just cleaned up as best as I could...... now my clunk is gone and the stink is gone too.:)

EDIT: I didn't have the whine that you speak of though. Someone else may have to chime in about that.
