Not sure what the proper way to bring this sort of thing up, so if this isn't it, just let me know. For the last 15 years there's been an annual BBQ Competition and Car show at the Chapel of the Cross out on 463. This year, due to some sponsor issues, church issues, etc., it has been relocated to Livingston. It will be November 11th and 12th. The Car show, BBQ competition etc will be on the 12th. It is an official Memphis BBQ Network Circuit. Friday night will be live music, hanging out, etc.

A friend of mine ran this when it was at Chapel of the Cross. He's still involved with this and knows the car guys that are running the car show. Some things will be different this year since its out at Livingston and I don't have much in the way of solid details yet.

If this is something the club is interested in, let me know, I'll get the contact information for the people running the car show etc. They've had prizes etc in the past, not sure what they are doing this year. Depending on the cook load, I may be able to snag us some BBQ etc. Right now, I'm planning on helping with the event in some capacity, either assisting them with running it, competing in the BBQ competition, or hanging with the club depending on what is decided.

They are looking for publicity, they want to get someone with a Drone out there to take some video (*cough* Nolan *cough*). Could be some BBQ in it for ya.

Link to BBQ network web site, this is the last scheduled competition of the year so it should draw a good crowd of teams. The contact Keith is the guy I know that is involved.

Ole Miss is on the road that weekend so I do t have to waste my Saturday in Oxford.

That may be a great weekend. Especially if Lou jumps in to cook. We have gone many times to support my friends that compete in that event.

I'm in for video. Parking a Cruiser up there. Helping Lou. Whatever.

Who do you know? I may have met them at the Canton competition earlier this year. Keith will definitely know them. Asked Keith for the car show peoples info. Will post it up when I get it.

Speaking of car shows. Family day will be Nov 5th a the Air Guard base and there will be a car show to help raise money for our family relief fund here at the base. The guys that run the Scarecrow in Madison are heading up this show and they are expecting around 200+ cars. If the club wanted to do something it would be welcomed. The show will be on the flightline and you would have an opportunity to have a picture made with your rig in front of one of our C-17's. Just a thought...

Got the link finally for the car show piece. It's free so if you are planning on going you'll probably get a good parking spot this way. The link is weird because it's from constant contact. If it doesn't work PM me your email and I'll send it that way.

THE TOWN OF LIVINGSTON, The New Home of
QUES, BLUES AND CRUISE!
November 11th & 12th

The 15th Annual Ques, Blues and Cruise (formerly Heavenly Hogs BBQ Contest held annually at The Chapel of the Cross) is moving up the highway a few miles north to the Town of Livingston.
All of the usual fun, food and fellowship we enjoyed at the Chapel of the Cross for the last 14 years will be had plus some new traditions and attractions, and as always Awesome "QUES", Incredible BLUES Lineup and Fabulous Car Show and CRUISE In!

Got some more details today. Apparently I'm drafted to organize the car show portion. Won't be much this year but we'll see what we can do for next year.

I'll bring some of the registration forms to the club meeting tomorrow. Car show parking is right in the middle of the event, so you won't get a better parking spot and registration is free! Even if you don't register before hand come out any way and we'll sneak you in.

I'll buy a few pork butts and my friends' BBQ team will cook them up for us.

I think it would be cool to have a cruiser with an awning for the registration table if anyone wants to volunteer their rig to provide me some shade.

If anyone knows some people in other car clubs please let me know, would love to get the word out now that I know I'm responsible for it.

There will be a people's choice award for the car show. Will need to work on a little something more for next year. Must be present to win.

That'd be cool if you don't mind. Event is from 9:00-4:00 on Saturday. There's a big to do Friday night as well, VIP Beer Garden, the Molly Ringwalds are playing etc. I'll be out there Friday night with the BBQ team getting the butts going for Saturday and helping them setup as well.

One last plug, don't worry about pre-registering just come on out. Parking/admission is free, car show entry is free. Thanks to Chris and Lou the car show participants have the chance to win some nice prizes. Got some butts locked in, got a cooler ready to stash, will be a good time.
