I think technically he is too young to join... But if you wanted at the next meeting to vote that if some one wants to be a member but are too young they on their 18th birthday must make a donation to the club equal to a years dues for all current members we could try again.

I joined TLCA with no problems, got my card in the mail and everything! I didn't realize there was any sort of age requirement... I'll be 18 in July though, so all is good!

TLCA requires all drivers at sanctioned events to be 18 or older. I am assuming that has something to do with the liability insurance they provide.
Our bylaws were created based on the sample by-laws provided by TLCA and they do include an 18 yr age requirement for membership.
From the TLCA by-laws
ARTICLE IX - EVENTS
D. No member or guest under the age of eighteen (18) years shall be permitted to drive in an event, unless accompanied by, or written permission of, parent or guardian.
So, I can be a member.. just no TLCA Sanctioned events behind the drivers wheel?? Well... my father can provide written consent so does that clear me then?

I don't get it honestly. There's already a group up that way, why another? If TLCA can welcome a tiny group of folks that do not like the group that is already established, but not allow the group that's already established... well then, I have no interest in them.
