Hi all, newbie Land Cruiser (2008) owner here. Graduated from a 1998 4runner for the last 18 years and I must say its a big step up. I just bought the LC, and its missing the DVD remote control (part #86170-50230, an insane $318.75 from Conicelli Toyota, my tried and true OEM parts source).

Is there a way to close the rear screen without the remote? I'd really like to close it since it partially blocks my view rearward, and I could not find a solution in the manual or in the forum. Many thanks.

Press the physical button that says "Display", then toggle the digital button at the top of the screen that says "rear screen." This is from my '11. Yours may have slightly different verbiage.

You can find the remotes on ebay for $50-75 IIRC. I posted a link in another discussion earlier this year.

While I haven't tried them I suspect any Toyota DVD remote for the last 10 years will work with the DVD players. If you have two screens you'd want one that has an A/B switch, otherwise no switch is required (or if you do use a remote with a switch leave it on A).

On my '13 when you select the rear tab on the infotainment screen it has a power button. That closes and opens the screen by pushing it.

@EatsManyHotDogs this is also correct for the 2008, note that only the front screen is a touchscreen. the rear screen is only a display.

Yes that worked!! My screen said "REAR". Pressing it opens/closes the screen. Thank you so much and to everyone who responded!!

thanks I will check that out some more. I saw some on ebay but it said they were for more recent model years. I'm willing to take a chance that they will work for my 2008 as well. I'd really like to be able to have the kids listen to their stuff coming out of the rear screen on the wireless headsets and then I can keep my sanity with the radio in the front seat. I'll definitely check out your other posts related to that topic. Thanks!
