Just happened to come across this tonight.

Has anyone tried this? Does it "work"?

No steel wool for me. Glass is hard but steel wool can still leave very fine scratches. Even worse, it leaves steel dust that will eventually rust wherever it settles.

I prefer lubricated clay bars. For bad water spots, paint compound or polish, or even cerium oxide and glass specific polishing pads.

What he said. Here's a good video demonstration.

Thanks - good to know.

I'll have to pull out the clay bar.

Do you guys wax the windshield like he does in that video?

Does anyone know if the LX or LC have their windows coated from the factory? Even at its dirtiest my windshield always beads water off to the point of barely needing wipers. I had an 01 LS430 and the windows were coated with something from the factory that always had water beading right off. I'm wondering if the LX had this too?

I've never waxed a windshield . . . I'm on my fourth front windshield.

I wax the windows when I wax the car. Use a synthetic wax like Turtle Wax Ice so you don't screw up the black trim like some wax does. After that I use the Ice detailer spray on everything after a wash. Rub it out until the 'fog' is gone.

Stoner Trim Shine spray on any rubber or plastic and wheels lasts about two weeks or more depending on weather. Dirt and brake dust doesn't stick as hard and makes the next go round easy.

Clay bar windows and paint before every wax. Wash it with Zip Wax concentrate to keep it slick.

Tried the clay bar and wax. Great results. However now I can see how pitted the glass is....
