I'm scared that if I spray off all the grease and grime there will be nothing left to plug the holes. It may be the only thing keeping oil in the engine.

True, but at least you'll know where your oil/fluids are leaking from.

When you drive to the car wash do you have to let the engine sit long before hitting it with the water?

When you drive to the car wash do you have to let the engine sit long before hitting it with the water?

I'll usually pull into the bay, pop the hood, spray on the degreaser, close the hood, wash the truck's body (7-10 minutes) and by the time that's clean then I'll approach the engine bay and hose it off.
