Just make sure that if you ever leave the arm disconnected, do not leave it laying there. I cooked my last edic when I did this. The arm some how swung around and got lodged into something when the arm moved forward. My relay was driving me crazy kicking the edic to off then on mode which is why I had to disconnect it.
 
To add another update, when putting the gears back into the FCM, line up the marks.

I can't believe I didn't see them the first time I put it back together! :rolleyes: This aligns everything properly, so that the arm moves to the correct position.

I was going to mention looking for marks but I couldn't find any images to show whether they really existed or not. (But I had a feeling they would exist because Mr Toyota is usually quite helpful in that way.)
 
On my behalf, it was coated in black nastiness when I pulled it apart... :D ... but, yeah, I really should have noticed. :doh:


One other quick question, what do you all think about using white lithium grease for the gears? Is that adequate, or should I use something else? At this point, it wouldn't be all that tough to pull it apart and re-grease it if needed. The only reason I ask is because of the consistency of the grease I pulled out - presumably from the factory.

There looked to me to be far too much of that black grease in there for it to have been applied by the factory FF LC FREAK.

When I get inside something like that I generally just redistribute the factory grease and maybe add a little fresh stuff if the factory grease has dried out or if it looks to have diminished too much.

I think the grease you used is OK. (I also like a white teflon grease I have that was sold for use in bicycle crank/wheel,steering bearings.)

PS. The grease certainly shouldn't be of the consistancy that is "runs away by itself". (It should "stay put" - apart from getting squashed-away by the gears of course.)
