Now i know how to clean it and the MAF sensor, but everyone here tends to experience RPM issues while running warmed up or at a light. When i start the car when its cold, the RPMs go up like usual, then they sink to 200-300 rpms, then go back to about 750 RPMs. It seems like it will die, but the RPMs always go back up. If i press the gas it hesitates and actually seems to make it worse. I plan on cleaning the T/B and MAF anyways, but do you think these are the cause of my Rpm fluctuations? Thanks. I just want to make sure this isn't something major, trying to keep the costs down befre we trade it

Ditto the previous two. Could be getting a stuck butterfly due to crud build-up.

Just cleaned it, took about 15 minutes and the difference is incredible. It is running a lot smoother, sounds quieter and even driving it the transmission seems to be shifting smother. I assume because the transmission was trying o make up for lack of power by changing shifting patterns but there is zero hesitation and i thought i needed new u-joints again because there seemed to be some slack but not anymore. Regardless it runs like a completely different car. It idles at 1000 now, so do i just need to let it relearn? or do i unplug the battery? Also, there was a lot of crap built up in there, so it makes sense why the car was running pretty poorly. I still need to clean the MAF sensor when i have the cleaner. I'm not mechanically inclined whatsoever but very easy to do and definitely worth it.

I would let it re-learn.

cleaning throttle body will sometimes cause it to idle higher when done...as the system was compensating for it being gradually dirtier and dirtier over a long period of time.....so now that it is clean it needs to relearn and even itself out. Mine mellowed out after a week or so of driving...but was big difference.

i think I need to do it again as starts are a little slow...just a second longer.

just drive it and it will adjust as needed without any need to unplug battery.
