Clean Install-FTM350AR & Other Stuff (1 Viewer)

So as promised in my other thread, here is the install of the Yaesu FTM-350AR. As I go along other things will be addressed such as the install of a dedicated power supply for the ARB fridge and other options for audio such as adding more auxiliary input jacks.
All the work will be done on my 08 Tundra for now and after that is done it will be again performed on my 85 4Runner.
My goal is to be able to remove the FTM-350AR from my Tundra and quickly install it in my 4Runner for trail use.
Here is what I have accumulated so far:

GPS unit for FTM-350AR
Programming software
Lido Mount for head unit
Comet SBB-5NMO antenna

In anticipation of adding a few more accessories I decided to get a dedicated fuse box from Blue Sea. I'll be mounting it in the center console of the truck under the cup holders, I think it will fit.

To start I needed to get some new 8ga wire to the area the fuse panel would be placed. Luckily I had an existing wire already ran through the firewall that I wouldn't be using anymore, so I used that to pull the 8ga into the cab.

Now that the positive is in it's time to tape the negative to the positive and keep pulling.

Some tinned cable lugs for marine use and some adhesive shrink tubing, now all I need is something to heat the shrink tubing with, the lighter isn't cutting it and I can't find my torch.

I found some weaved cable sheathing, this stuff is easy to work with and makes things super clean. I sheathed the positive and negative cables and ran them behind the dash and into the center console.

I had previously wired in a gauge for the air bag system in the rear suspension when towing, I bought the sheathing in different sizes so I used the 1/4" size to clean up what was there.

Drilled a few holes in the center console for the wires, added some terminals to the fuse panel for the test fit; it looks like it's good to go, a perfect fit.

Added lugs and heat shrink to the cables after pulling it through the holes and installed the fuse panel. I'm debating on how I'm going to get the wires in that will connect to the fuse panel. I figure I can either cut a panel out of the console and have them enter that way or drill a hole for each individual wire. Cutting out a panel would be easier than drilling individual holes but drilling individual holes would be cleaner.

Earlier I had cleaned up the wiring for the air bag pressure gauge. Originally when I installed the gauge it just flopped around in the ash tray holder and didn't look good. You can see it on the right side of the first picture.
I remembered that I had some foam pipe insulation and figured it would work great to hold the gauge. I used two pieces to wrap around the gauge and stuffed it in the ash tray holder. Worked perfect, you can't even see that it's two pieces.

Nice clean install. I used the same Blue Sea fuse block for my FJC aux/radio power installation and it works great with no noise on the radios.

Sorry, I realize this is going very slow but due to a recent injury I haven't been able to get out of the house at all. After going to see the Dr. yesterday I was able to take a few minutes to snap a few pics of what I plan on doing.
My dilemma is with mounting the head unit for the Yaesu FTM-350AR. Unfurtunately I've spent a good penny on a bunch of different mounts thinking I could use them in either the Tundra or 4Runner or both, only to discover I don't really like any of them.
The first one I bought was the Lido floor mount, I actually bought two of them thinking they would work great in both trucks. My problem with it is that I only envision the radio bouncing around all the time unless I strap it to the center console as high up as possible. I also forsee it getting in the way of a passenger and by also partially covering up the forward cup holder.

The next mount was a Lido vent mount. Again, not very sturdy and I can see the radio face bouncing around a lot, I wasn't really worried about it being in front of the vent because I can close it off. I tried mounting it up high on the vent and low, either way it just seemed to juggle too much.

Next location is just over the cigarette lighter/12v power supply outlet. It would be the ideal location but the drawback is the cup holder, it will block usage of the one right under the radio.

So, after spending way too much money on mounts I think all I need is a simple t-slot holder with 3m tape on it. I'll try and find one amongst the old GPS mounts I have before spending any cash again. When I find it I think I've settled on mounting it here. Yes, it's right near the vent, but with the 3m tape it will be stable, within reach and won't be bouncing around like the other mounts.

I mounted my FTM-350ar above my rearview in my FJC.

I mounted mine to the ashtray so it sits at an angle flush to the dash. If I want to remove it I simply slide the ash tray out and unplug the data cable.
