Lol. This ought to be good. Elections for five seats, with three people. Outstanding. Isn't it funny that nobody is showing up at the meetings anymore?... Who can blame them? A meeting on the most difficult to access side of town in Colorado Springs? To a shady looking, poorly lit industrial complex? Where you get to squeeze into a dingy room that smells like gear oil, and sit uncomfortably close to another member on a tiny love seat? Or bring your own chair? Or wait! You can run in the door and claim the barber chair!! Who will be king of the barber chair tonight?!?

Remember the good ol' days?... when people showed up to the meetings? with easy access along the I25 corridor- to an inviting, welcoming environment for newcomers that may be shy or on the fence about showing up? With a wonderfully lit room, and nice chairs and tables? I just cannot understand why more people are not showing up these days....

I hope that the new president comes to his senses and moves the meeting point back to a neutral, public business. Moving the meetings to Redline was a selfish move, made by members that do not have the club, and furthering the membership in mind. Only their own interests, for some sort of non-existent "cool factor". There is nothing appealing about our meetings now. Just inconveniences. Get it right. Lets fix this- make ourselves approachable and inviting- and get some new members... It's like we're having our meetings in somebody's mom's basement. And it's embarrassing...

Ha!

Damn, gotta love Luke's brutal honesty. I know this topic came up quite a bit way back when I was Prez (oh so long ago) and I think Luke has made some good points.

At some point, someone mentioned having the monthly meetings somewhere more centralized (back at Toyota???) and having the occasional "Tech Night" at Redline. I always thought that was a good plan.

Either way, who cares about what some guy from Missouri thinks. Right? :hillbilly:

I agree, a tad harsh but some really good points.

I have been saying for while we could move back to Motor City Toyota, or another easy I-25 access, with the option of tech nights at Redline.

"It's like we're having our meetings in somebody's mom's basement. And it's embarrassing..."

Sorry, but that is just damn funny..

Okay.... Sorry it took me a couple days to get on here. As elected President at Monday's meeting my first order of business is to arrange a poll on the forum regarding the location of our meetings. Being that I have pretty regularly attended meetings at both locations I have noticed a decline in attendance since the move to Redline. I just dont know if I can attribute it to the move or normal flow of the club. (Does that sound political enough? I'm new to this office.)

A poll is how the meetings got changed to Redline and I figure it will lend a larger voice to the vote than the 6 of us could on Monday. It will be open to only paid current members of CLC. When I post the poll Ryan will moderate that. I will call the GM of Larry H. Miller Toyota today and just make sure its cool for us to start meeting there if that's the way the vote turns. Stay tuned I will post the poll this evening.

This is good to hear.

I am in no way slamming Redline, or their facility. That shop is perfect for exactly what it set out to be- A Shop.

I ask that when people are voting, they use their best judgment, as we have to be honest with ourselves as a club. I know everyone is enamored with the idea of tech nights -but the honest truth is- we won't ever have time to do a major tech night after a meeting. Performing a valve job on an FJ40, or doing a knuckle rebuild on an FJ80 are hours long jobs- and it's not fair to Justin. He runs a business out of Redline. I can't see putting him out by moving things around to get a vehicle in his shop, and running the risk that something go wrong, and the vehicle have to stay there overnight- or worse. I agree that we can do little stuff there; The battery welding was fantastic, as was the tire re-seat. I'm just not sure how many more "small ideas" we can come up with. I remember when we were asked to make a list, and there were very few ideas. Basing our meeting location off of a few small ideas is not good math.

This is just my two cents, and I'm sure you guys are tired of hearing it. Thanks for listening- I'll shut up now.

I'm not an active member anymore and I sold my 80, so I'm not voting - but.... back when I was a member, there were definitely times I decided not to attend meetings because they were so far out on the other side of town.

Hey guys...sorry I'm being a flake and skipping meetings. An update on old business: I the business cards were ordered and delivered last week, so we have those available to promote the club. Also, given the current state of my job (busy, with possible big changes coming) it is probably best that I don't hold office. Tracy, I will get you the binder some time soon.
