i got rid of my 18's for 16's mostly due to cost and availability of tires. I have 35" MT's and saved $140/tire going to a 16" rim.

Anyone else looking for a swap? I have 18", looking for 16" In PHX.

Old thread, new question - 03+ 18" to 16" wheel swap?

I've got a 2003 UZJ100 and am considering swapping out my 18" wheels for OEM 16". Problem is, something changed in 2003 (per SLEE Tech section and most tire sizing guides) and after an hour of searching, seems like 2003+ 16" OEM for UZJ100 is unobtanium? Any help is appreciated...looking for 16" OEM, forged, and not too picky after that - TRD would be nice...thanks in advance for any recommendations!

Just get a 16" from an earlier year, they should be easy to find. They bolt right up. Or, you may also be able to find an OE 17" but those are very rare.

Personally, I'd keep your 18's. Unless you crawl, a 33" on 18" has plenty of sidewall flex to do any reasonable trail if you air down.

Thanks OregonLC - appreciate the info. Maybe I will keep the 18s....was hoping to keep tire costs down, but since I'm going to eventually do the suspension anyways (Slee/OME probably) maybe I'll do it all at once to max out tire size for 18s.
