Chinese knock-off bumpers

I am interested but skeptical. I can't recall seeing anyone have an off-brand front bumper.

Get a single sample first. I've seen a bunch of the Chinese 4x4 accessory manufactures products and most would make you cry.

I tried a similar bumper for my old Jeep. What a joke. If you farted in the wrong direction you could dent the thing. I saw the 55lbs for the weight and thought it must have been a typo. Sure enough, it was 55lbs including the packaging and pallet it came on. It was like 24 gauge metal. It was all looks and zero function. Luckily there was a mall crawler on the forum that just wanted the look and didn't care about function so I was quite happy to pass it on to him. This is a different company name so I doubt it's the same people but definitely look into it before you buy.

It says heavy steel but no actual thickness.

pics look good. Looks like the Ironman bumper. Also the gauge of steel looks very similar to the ARB

The steel looks awfully thin to me, don't think I would try it. After poking around their site the roof rack is definitely an option...

Common sense, gut feeling and experience say steer clear..... Curiosity of finding hidden treasure says....go for it!! I'd go for one if there was a way to have it shipped to Japan..

I was thinking the same thing about the roof rack..

Hey this is perfect for me. As a beach rat I have no real need for a bumper but they look so cool I'd love to get one. They're just so damned expensive. I may have to give this a try in my next round of wasteful unnecessary spending LOL.

If I do I'll report back.

so you have a minimum $2,800 order? put together a list of interested people to ship the other 9 to and you may be able to get this pretty cheap. Hell, for $280 shipped I'd take 1 just to try - I could always strengthen up the welds on my own for that price

I can cut ya out some cardboard and paint it whatever color you like no charge!

You ever seen Chinese ATV's? Kids toys? Just say no...

I must say I'm tempted. If I can get them to send one I may look into it. Pretty sure AOR was sourcing their bumpers from Chinese vendors?

The crap shoot is if they are a good manufacturer or not. The old motto "you get what you pay for" comes to mind, however.

If I do make anything happen, I'll be sure to report back on how it compares to my ARB. Anyone in the Bay Area interested in a new bumper?

It looks good on the pics but concern about the quality and thickness of the metal. Im in the Bay too. Also interested.

How bout the roof rack.

pardon the small rant but I just don't get it. Even if this was acceptable (doubtful), the continual movement manufacturing to China is really taking it's toll on our local industry (now small boutique industry of bumper fab). I say support your local industries and buy from someone in NA or perhaps AUS.

Well,, you'd better include made in Japan on your list of morally acceptable countries...by proxy

As far as I'm concerned...given the origin of the vehicles we all drive only "I" have the right to make that rant because unless you live in Japan your point is just hypocritical bull****. Your rant only has merit if it's directed at me and I am well aware of how made in China is fxxxing up local manufacturing.

This is why our economy blows. Manufacturing in America is dead. The sooner we exit paralysis and evolve our economy, the better off we will be. Think of it as the shift from making your own clothes to buying them from a seamstress.

I'd possibly be in for one if they sent a sample and it seemed acceptable.

Edit: nvm, looking for a rear bumper
