It was a
good day! My wife and I were the trail leaders. David Hayes and his kids, David Molter and his kids, Chuck and his friends Tyler and Mike ran the trail as well.
There was enough snow to make the trail interesting. I had to struggle a little to get up the first major obstacle, a steep, rocky hill climb glazed with snow and ice. David Hayes walked right up behind me with Warn's help. After the trail was thoroughly broken in,

Chuck drove up like it was paved. At this point, we bid farewell to David Molter's LC, hoping it would be there when we returned.
We continued on, challenging many of the various optional rock piles. Then we forged through the mighty mud pit. It must have been at least a foot deep!
After we got our tires good and slicked up, we moved on to the last obstacle of the trail, a near vertical rock outcropping. At this point, we encountered our first casualty of the day. Poor Chuck sheared off his Pinion shaft, which had just been installed the Friday before. Fortunately, he was able to promptly bandage his stricken Landcruiser so as to limp out in 2 wheel drive.
All in all, I believe everyone had a great time. I think now we can bid farewell to the snow, unless you want to meet me up at Holy Cross tomorrow.
