Hey guys,
Not enough outdoor/wheeling content in the Coastal Cruiser section. So I thought I'd write a quick blurb about last weekend.

The GF talked me out of continuing on with home reno's on Sunday, so we headed up to the Chilliwack eco reserve. We passed a couple guys in a YJ when they were looking over a snow mound that had slid down onto the road. After we continued along the rutted road the truck tracks ended but the snow was packed down well by snowmobiles. I helped the YJ when he got stuck and so he followed us up to the trail head then the turned back.

The hike is very scenic, with lots of huge old trees. The snow up there is between 1 and 3 feet deep, but the crust is pretty solid. There was nobody else hiking up there that day and ours were the only tracks in a while. All in all a great little hike for a sunny weekend day trip.

On the way back the snow crust had softened and the jeep guys had chewed up the surface a bit, so I was sinking in some places. I was keeping my speed up and got off the snowmobile tracks. The nose went over the edge of the road into ditch and when I went to back out the arse end started to follow. So rather than do anything risky I winched back onto the road.

Great day in the woods.

Anyone else go anywhere last weekend?

Nice, looks like a fun day.

I did go somewhere, hockey tourney in Mackenzie, and got smashed twice on my birthday.:D

west harrison

Went up west harrison for something to do on sunday. Lunch on the beach at hale creek. The snows been plowed to a gate about 1km past the sunrise turn off. I guess they are moving equipment up there right now. The snow is very heavy above the elevation of the FSR, but melting quick. Road into hale is getting rougher/better with every winter.

Martin give me a shout when you go, I have been out wheeling every weekend too! I dont have a photographer anymore

Hi Aaron,

I will try to get the message out before going on these day runs and camping trips. Trouble is most of these day trips have been spur of the moment, the weather looks nice, lets go explore the backroads deals. But the snow is melting fast so lots of areas will soon be accessible again....

Yup: if anyone is off these next two weeks...I hope to take a day or two mid week and head out to cook some dogs...spring break ya know.

I am off for another month, mid-week trip sounds like fun. I am in

Thursday working. Only day that would now work for a day trip would be Tuesday, and I have a meeting that night...so casual short day required. Working Sat/Sun nights, so no weekend fun for me. Maybe the following week, or this Tuesday if things work out.

Too bad Greg, Tuesday morning I have a meeting in Vancouver at 10:30. Perhaps some of the others would be up for it. So far I am free the following Tuesday, so will plan on heading out with you and whoever wants to go.

Anybody up for this Thursday and/or a day this Easter Weekend, let me know.
