Does the LX 470 (03 and up) have the metal latch points in the middle row for securing a child seat?

If you have kids, you'll likely know what I'm talking about. Most modern vehicles have u-shaped metal attachment points to secure a car seat to, as opposed to using the seat belt.

Yes I think. New owner here but my 04 does and I thought 02 and newer had latch points. Nice for car seats for sure.

Grr. I was hoping to put the seat in the smaller section (passenger side).

You can, you will need to use the seat belt and top tether to the cargo ring behind the seat. I secure the seat belt as tight as possible and secure the top tether second. I think the Latch system is only good to 60 or 80 pounds of child+seat.

Hey Undefined, middle seat middle row is statistically the safest spot in the car. You can't go wrong putting the little one in that seat. Plus it leaves room for grown ups on the sides. It's a bit of a reach for short people but doable.

You have LATCH and a rear tether. No front tether but you can loop it around the front seat brackets.

Just did this install on two convertible car seats for my '06. The latch system is on the middle and left rear (behind driver). The rear of the seatback has a velcro flap, pull it back and there's the latch.

I can't figure out why Toyota didn't put the latch on the passenger's side??? Same as my '06 Tundra? I don't get it? There's an official anchor for the top tether in the first third of the cargo compartment, under the bed mat. On mine there's an unofficial hook right behind the seat. My seats were locked in pretty good, so I just used the cargo latch right behind the seat.

Good luck.

I'm guessing they didn't put LATCH on PS because most car seats would perch be too close to the seat seams and edges.
Also, if you have a car seat mounted in center position you can still fold PS 2nd row to access 3rd row.
I don't have LATCH on my 2000 LC but I use the center seat belt in 2nd row.

I don't have LATCH on my 2000 LC...

In the interest of providing useful data for future searchers, I just wanted to point out that my 2001 LC DOES have LATCH. It's driver side and center only, same as the later 100s. But our car seats stay in the 2011 Sienna so my functional expertise is limited to that platform.

On a basically unrelated note of humor and irony, I will point out that my 2000 Chevy Cavalier (I paid $9,999 brand spanking new) also had LATCH. The 2000 LC was like $58K?

The LATCH is standard on all 2001 and newer US model LC/LX's. The safety differences in a non LATCH 100 and a Cavalier are not even on the same planet. The Cavalier was one of the unsafest vehicles ever made, especially in side impact hits.

Because that's the seatback that folds down so someone can climb into the 3rd row? That's my guess.

Side note, Japan is a bit lax regarding rear seated passengers. They didn't require rear seatbelt use till about 2008! Even today, it's not uncommon to see kids crawling around the back while the vehicle is in motion.

Kind of like all the Southern US border states. I've seen some interesting stuff in Southern Arizona.

A lot of JDM vehicles in the late 80's, maybe even 90's don't even have rear seatbelts.
