Hi,

Is it possible to install a child seat in the 3rd row of 2009 LC? I know that 3rd row seat does not have anchor points. I wonder if it's possible to secure a child seat using 3rd row seat belt. Has anyone tried it? Is there a way to lock the 3rd row seat belt in order to install the car seat?

Thanks

Only SUV that I know of with thrid row LATCH is the Honda Pilot.

I use the third row of 2009 LC only as a back up for child seat. You can go to Toys R us and get a belt tightner. Its called Sunshine belt tightner ----> Sunshine Kids Mighty-Tite - Car Seat Belt Tightener - Sunshine Kids - Babies "R" Us
Using this device, you can tighten down the car seat pretty securely. I still feel nervous about putting the carseat on the jumper seats. I have two kids 1.5 y.o. and 4.5 y.o.. i put them on the second row.

Did you figure out how to unlock the Navigation? (manage Navigation while the car is in motion.)

Thanks for the link. I do not have LC yet, but seriously consider getting one. In my other cars without latch system, seat belt can be locked if I pull it all out. Then it gets locked in place. It unlocks itself if I slide it all the way back. Does it works the same way with LC? You have to pull the seat belt all the way out, then start releasing it back. If you hear clicking and seat belt does not slide out anymore - it's locked and can be used to secure the car seat.

Thanks,

I stick my kids and car seats (1 infant, and 3 regular booster/car seats combos) everywhere in the truck. With the curtain air bags all around, I am not worried to much.

Just stick your knee into the seat and tighten it up.

In order to tighten it up, you need a locking seat belt. Does your reply mean that your 3rd row seat belt can be locked (meaning you cannot pull it out)?

Look at the first paragraph here CPSafety - Your online child passenger safety resource

Do you use latchplate to lock the belt, or the belt is locked by a retractor? There is a test in the middle of the page to test the retractor.

Thanks,

Yup. You can pull out the seatbelt with quick motion and it will set the lock. You then place the tightener and you are set. The carseat will be very secure. No significant movement (comparable to the latch). I can see your concern. I rented a Yukon when I was out in L.A. last month. The third row seatbelt does not lock. you cannot use the tightener with such seatbelt system. Fortunately you can with the 200 LC. I will try to post some pics with the carseat in place. (I just purchased the truck 2 days ago. I am learning as well)

Thanks a lot! Picture would be great!

With so many carseats, how do you get to the third row? I have guests (with one toddler) coming into town and trying to put all the kids in one vehicle. Accessibility to the third row seems difficult with two carseats on the second row (can't fold the seats forward). Are you putting two carseats on the 60 portion of the 60-40?

Well I have 1 actual car seat, the rest are the boosters, so I can easily move them around.

But even then, if they are older kids.....3+ you can always secure two seats in the middle row, then do a third seat in the third row and then just fold down the back of one of the rear seats and have them go in from the rear hatch (they love that)

Depends on your configuration.

I don't think you are going to be able to get two FULL car seats next to each other in either row......it will be very hard to get them to sit flush with the seat because of the rigidity of the car seats.

How about a roof top tent? The kiddo could crawl around up there. I'm sure they'd love it! :steer:
