So I got on a plane for work the morning that happened. Down in Oregon now. Curious if anyone on here
has driven up to take a look? Any first hand accounts? All I get are internet Global news same repeated helicopter ride.
Saw a fishing guide they interviewed who figured he could out ride the wave if it happened.
Just looking for information.

Nothing further from our end; I'm pretty sure they will block any road access to the site due to the obvious heightened risk of additional slides.

Just waiting it to 'overflow' the slide and slowly carve a new channel, that will be interesting to get a time lapse.

Whenever it happens to run over, it will be a tourist attraction for sure. I have a vague idea where it is.
Wish I was home, be worth a drive up to check it out. Don’t get to see this kind of thing very often.
So I guess this morning it started to wash over and water is flowing. Hopefully it just creates a natural new channel and the river is renewed. Shouldn’t be to much of a catastrophe.

Yeah, the videos online from today show a healthy new channel about the same width as before, just not as deep, so the flow is pretty fast still. That's a ton of sediment though, nutz....

Gotta love it! Nature at work. So cool. Thanks for the posting.

I was very lucky to catch the Big Bar Ferry a week prior. Driving through the South Chilcotin, the narrow roads barely hung onto the mountain sides and you can't help but notice rocks falling on roads and the sides of the valley which are largely sand with no vegetation. Another landslide on hwy 99 has blocked the town of Pemberton's access to Lillooet as well. Had a great trip and I'm thankful to have seen more of this region before the slides

Hwy 99 is reopened already 👍

Love that upper shot! To be honest no one could be surprised at this event. I'm glad it's running it's course with hardly
a hiccup. Looking forward to running thru there when I get home for a look.

Glad we took the day trip out there from the ranch when we did, stood in that old cabin that is gone now, kinda a shame.
