So about a month ago I lost 3rd gear in my three speed transmission. Sourced another trans/t case local and swapped those in along with resurfacing the flywheel and a new clutch kit.
When I did this I upgraded from 11 to 12 inch clutch disk, finger type pressure plate.
I cannot seem to get the clutch throw out bearing adjusted and I am fairly sure I need to pull the trans in the near future.
Immediately after installing everything I went to shift into gear and it would not. The mechanical clutch linkage was adjusted to the point where it would not push on the pressure plate enough to dis-engage the clutch disk.
I then adjusted the clutch slave cylinder rod to the point where the clutch would disengage and go into gear- now when the clutch pedal is released, the throwout bearing is still pressing against the fingers of the pressure plate. Spinning and making noise.
I know that the throwout bearing is not supposed to be spinning against the pressure plate fingers when the clutch is disengaged.
When I adjust the throwout bearing so it is loose against the fingers when dis-engaged, it will not press against the pressure plate enough to shift into gear.
I talked to my local mechanic today and he said I prolly have the wrong length throw out bearing. After a little research I belive I have the short size. But not sure the long size will fix the problem.
If anyone has ever had a similar problem or can help at all
