went to the north end campsite (the non rec-site one) of chehalis through mystery creek yesterday. didnt go over the bridge though so i dont know if it connects to the chehalis fsr to access the other two sites on the west side of the lake. however, the woman at the sasquatch beer store said the chehalis fsr was good to go. how far up im not sure due to the slide etc.

first time ive been up there since the slide. all i have to say is wow...luckily nobody was there when it happened.

Cool, we're looking to check the area out this weekend.
We're heading up tomorrow after lunch. Planning on camping either on Harrison or Chehalis depending how late we get out. Explore a bit then hike up to Statlu Lake Sunday.

Was an awesome weekend. Camped Sat night at Hale north, had that beach all to ourselves, well, other than a visit from some bewildered boaters that wanted to know how I got my 'jeep' in there.
Sunday checked out the Chehalis rec site. Wow, I've seen lots of pics but it really is amazing how high the water went as the wave sloshed back and forth after the landslide. Lots of cutblock boundary flagging in the forest at the rec site. Makes a convenient log dump there I guess.
Drove in about 2.5km from the bridge toward the Statlu trailhead. Makes a really nice day hike up there. Didn't have time to hit the upper lake but the lower lake and the killer falls were impressive enough.
