You kids interested in doing a cheese run this spring? Location to be decided, but most likely at the Wrangle camp shelter. Date to be decided also, probably in the next month or so. Saturday or Sunday, we are open to either. And most likely a bunch of snow to wheel in on the way there!

Just gauging interest at this point.

Well tried to make Wrangle camp Saturday and didn't quite get there. We first tried the low road from little applegate rd. The road was closed due to a wash out that we were able to get around but then up high the snow got deep but also was like a melted slushy zero traction was to be had and it was soft enough that you could not get on top of it. Next we headed down and hit the through road over to Beaver creek to see if coming over the divide was clear. We made it to the cross roads near the top played around in the gravel pit and went down to the cabin but the drifts were deep enough to prevent us from continuing up and over. Good luck with your cheese run you might make it if the drifts get melted down a bit more. Mostly wanted to inform you guys of the low road wash out as it is pretty sketchy.

Well today I made it to the shelter, getting close to decision time as the snow was super wet, heavy and extra 'challenging', deep and shallow . I'll head up sometime the week before we go up, but am starting to think about a backup plan. I guess, who all is in for sure? And how dedicated are you all to making it a snowy adventure to get up there?

I have no doubts about getting there, but don't want to spend hours trying just to turn back(unless everyone if fine with this).

The first two backup places that come to mind are Deer creek again, or the Klamath spot again? Or we could try something new and try for Straub's cabin that TacoJoe mentioned above.

What say ye' all? Otherwise you'll have to live with my decision :worms:

I'm a pretty sure thing for it. I'm fine with the shelter as long as you are ok with dragging me the whole way up there! The cabin would be interesting and my 2nd vote. Klamath falls was a neat location but it was a really long day of driving. I'd do deer creek if nothing else.
