Hi all,

I own a GX470, but I just picked up a gorgeous 2013 LC that's incredible to drive. I'm learning a great deal on this site.

One of my TPMS sensors is down for the count, and I need help coming up with a game plan.

My sense is that I need to get an ODB2 bluetooth scanner and then use Carista to determine which sensor needs replacing. Then, I'll buy a new sensor, have it installed, and then program it with Carista. What do you think?

Thanks for your help!

To program my denso sensors I have been using the carista OBDII reader and their app. Works great. To program TPMS you need the annual carista subscription once the included free trial period expires. I also have the OBD Fusion app on my phone/tablet that works with the carista OBDII reader.

I used Carista with the 1 month subscription. Worked great. I'm using a BAFX bluetooth OBDII scanner.

Unless you know which tire is which ID# (1-5), you'll have to start airing down tires until you find the one that doesn't respond.

This.

For replacing the sensor you can have a tire shop do it or find posts on here about using a board and the factory bottle jack under the rear frame to pop the bead.. but be careful not to break the sensor in the process.

Temp subscription for carista works great, as mentioned above. Alternately if you plan to do your own work you can find a -quality- techstream cable and program that way. Note that many of the cheapest ones on ebay or wherever don't seem to want to do TPMS or live data. I used a VCX nano as written about elsewhere and it has been a great setup.. including full diagnostics of the vehicle. Carista is a powerful app, but there are limitations to what it can do.

Thanks so much, guys, for all your help! Everything makes much more sense now.
