When was the last time you used one of these? 
Interesting how the thread is on the main body / handle and the neat design of the adjusting nut collar. You can tighten that nut with another wrench too. It's about 16" long overall. Just cleaned it up a bit. it's surprisingly tight.
I'm picturing a fellow in coveralls carrying a wooden toolbox from his shoulder with this in it and going to work on a steam engine...
It's a Bemis and Call. I've seen an ad from 1905 that shows one very much like this.
