Fired up the cruiser today to head to work. It started up just fine and because it was cold and snowing I let it run for a minute before I drove. I backed out of my driveway no problem. I then shifted to drive and the check engine light came on and it wouldnt budge. I gave it gas in drive, 2nd, L and R and it crept forward or in reverse.. and i mean crept. i put it in N, then shifted the t-case to Low and same thing...crept. So i shut her down and started it again. the check engine light remained on, but drove like a champ. didnt feel like any slipping issues as far as shifting goes. i took it to the mechanic to see what might be the issue and waiting to hear back from them...as i didnt have time to consult mud first as i was on my way to work...any ideas?

dealer just called..said throttle position sensor is all rusted up...told me that they can take it off, clean it and throw it back on and if it works, then its about a $400 fix. if it doesnt work, then they have to replace the entire throttle body...thats $1300 fix... i will be searching on mud to see what there is on this issue. if anyone has had ideas, i am open to them...

Lots in the FAQ on TPS fixes. How mechanically inclined are you? Cold weather seems to set it off. I had my normally-hot-weather 100 up in the mountains this month where it sat overnight in the low single-digits. Threw a TPS code in the morning. Reset code, shut down engine, restarted, and no more issues. It appears that some have the issue return, and some don't. "rusted up" is likely mechanic-speak to get you to pony up some coin.

thanks, i just found a bunch of stuf in the FAQ section....its just odd, because its been much colder over the last month and this is the first issue i have had. i have been able to read up a little, from what i understand, the sensor can be replaced without actually taking apart the throttle body...the dealership tells me they have to take the throttle body out to get to the sensor...i will keep searching..

he gave me the code of p1120, just checked in faq and its the peddle position sensor

i think i will try and clean the throttle body this weekend and order the APPS and TPS. I'm assuming that should fix the issue.
