Code description by free autozone read bank 1(doesn't make a lot of sense on an inline motor) catalytic converter low pressure or something. Could I have a bad cat at 120K miles or do I need to replace oxy sensors. Help

Thanks

do you have the code number?

could it have been soemthing like "low catalyst efficiency"

I am not aware of any catalitic converter pressure code.

hard to say without the real code or a good ddescripsion.

the codes are universal across all makes and models as their form is mandated by the EPA, that is why it is called bank one as we only have one bank. the bank 2 codes are not used in our cruisers

low catalyst efficiency yep that's the one, I will have to get the code on the print out I received at autozone when my wife gets home it is in the center consule. Is it time to bite the bullet and buy an aftermarket exhaust. Thanks in advance!

it might be cataic converters or it might be the O2 sensors, as the computers only eye into the catalic converter effeciency is the rear O2 sensor.

there are a couple ways to trouble shoot that oen based on what tools you have available.

Check that you don't have a leak in any of the gaskets around the catalytic converters. I banged my pipes on a rock and popped the gasket between the cats and got a PO420 ~ Insufficient cat. efficiency code. I had it read at AutoZone and cleared it by pulling the EFI fuse. Nothing since then. The gasket is still bad and I haven't thrown another code in a few weeks.

If you start the cruiser up in the morning and it's cold enough to get noticeable steam from the tail pipe, you should be able to see the steam coming out of any major leaks.
