After extensive wiggling, messing with, and wondering why Toyota did it, I've pretty much decided that the only thing I really, honestly dislike about the FJC are those silver 'wings on the end of the front bumper.
In looking at the exploded view of the bumper, it appears that they're only cosmetic, and are only held in by a single plastic screw.
Unfortunately, it looks like when they're removed they leave a gaping hole where they were.
Soooo...I know some guys who have a nice metalshop. I'm betting I can get them to mock up a simple replacement 'plate' that would cover the hole and match up to the rest of the bumper.
Since my FJC is still (sigh...) a month away, I'll have to wait on doing this mod to see how it turns out. I'll post up here when it's done.
