Gday,

I have a BJ74 and recently the filter, battery and turbo lights came on and my voltage got a bit crazy.
I read up about these warning lights and found it to be the External voltage regulator or the alternator. BOTH of these items have been replaced with NEW ones but I STILL HAVE THE PROBLEM. The battery is also 3 months old and still looks to be in A1 condition.
I took a quick reading and the battery is getting around 16 volts......

What am i missing here?? Thanks

Regulator is U/S, or sense wire/fuse broken if it is externally sensed.

I had the same problem. As suggested I replaced/rebuilt the alternator and regulator. After 4 years I finally traced the problem to the charge light relay located behind the glove box. Remove the box liner and the relay is easy replaced. When the relay isn't working a 0.2 amps is being directed to the alternator causing the batteries to slowly drain. The turbo/fuel lights also come on during driving. These lights should go out as soon as you start the engine. A delay in the lights going out is a sign that the charge light relay is not operating as it should. The relay cost around 80$, a lot cheaper then taking out your alternator and replacing unnecessary parts and buying new batteries as many people suggest.
Good luck!

Old thread, but a friend is having the same problem but I could not locate the charge light relay. Does anyone know what it looks like?
