chapter rep report-November 2006
Since we're not gonna have a lot of time for an official type presentation at the 'meeting' next Thursday, I figured I'd post the highlights from last weeks BODREPS meeting and you guys can ask questions if you like.
President Alan Loshbaugh was unable to attend; EVP Erik Christiansen was in charge. Kowboy took his last minutes, as he has resigned as Secretary.
Nominations were completed and closed for December elections as follows:
President: Alan Losbaugh
Administrative VP: Nick Stone
Marketing/SalesVP: Jason Phillips, Mark Watkins, Justin Ward
Secretary: Mark Van Meter
Treasurer: Casey Campbell
Central/Mountain Individual Rep: Jeff Zepp, Dave Conners
Administrator's Report: Jenn says we have 4233 members, 882 of which are chapter members. Discussion was had regarding frequency of updated membership reports with lapsed member names being sent to each of the IRs to do phone/e-mail follow ups. Right now I'm not sure if the updated list will be every other month, same as the list going to TT, or monthly.
Treasurer's Report: A proposed budget was submitted, but not voted on. There was a LOT of discussion about budget issues for 2007. Toyota Trails budget will increase again, which, despite anticipated increase in ad revenues, will constrain other parts of the budget. After a LOT of discussion on all sides of the issue, it was agreed to leave the TT budget intact.
Jenn proposed that we set aside a portion of proceeds from selling our back issues of TT [which are already paid in full] to help fund land use as a more dedicated committment. Numbers of 25% and 50% were suggested. I don't think a consensus was reached.
Someone suggested offering TLCA merchandise to chapters for sponsored events at cost to help stimulate interest in our merchandise. Ross Woody suggested that only clubs who are returning their 10% profit margin to TLCA should be eligible to participate in this offer. I thought [and think] this is a valid point, and have continued discussion about this on the BOD forum.
Sales Manager-Chris Hatfield is working on a couple of ideas to reward the larger advertisers in the TT with discounted Associate Membership and possibly free calendars.
Webmaster-Matt Farr has been working his butt off on the website TLCA.org and it's showing. Much easier to navigate. New feature, Rig of the Week has been going well. He says he's got submissions to cover most of next year already! He's going to start a new feature, dedicated web content online stories! Also revamping the sign up form to include vehicle tracking info, add a land use donation box, add a multi-year renewal feature, and directly link paypal.
AVP-Nick Stone brought a bylaws amendment up for a vote that clarifies what it means to be a chapter in good standing.
New business- we voted Mike Costello [TornadoAlleyCruisers, White Trash delegate] as our new Merchandise Chairman. Mike has got a lot of good ideas, a lot of enthusiasm, and quite a few people willing to help him work on new swag for TLCA. First on the list is our new toolbag. It is already being promo-ed on MUD and Pirate.
Those are the highlights.
All rumours about me using the 'f' word during the budget discussions are.....
Absolutely true!
The meeting went well, and I have a good rapport with the rest of the board. I have enjoyed being your delegate and hope to continue to do so for the coming year.
Sincerely
Mark A.
