Hello my cruiser brothern

Does any one know what has to be done to put fj60 axels under my fj40trail rig..The axels are out of an fj60from Australia and the rear is a full floater,. I currently run 36inch buckshots and have a spring over set up,also thinking about going to rear link system from Proffits. Any info would be helpfull..

Thanks

That's about it, but if you are spring over, you will need to reweld the perches in the right spot, and make new brake hardlines.

I used perches from ruffstuff for my 60 axles under my 40.Had to do some cut/grind on them to get them where I wanted them.No outboarding. Also had to make a new top plate cuz of the 5/8 bolts and it's a different bolt pattern, just a little bit.Made it out of 1/4 plate.

Doing 60's in mine. My front should be here any day now from the CNT, I'll be posting lots of pics in a few weeks when I start putting it all together. Easy swap. I say do it.

Last time I tried to use my camera it was being a pos.I'll see what I can do.

If I was to do it again, I'd just make my own perch.Theirs is out of 3/8 so it ain't going any where. Here's a link to their stuff... http://www.ruffstuffspecialties.com/catalog/fj40-fj60-diff-cut-spring-perch-new-style-p-202.html

Real nice guy.

I used the 10 degree one.I always ment to call back there and see what the different degree ones, whats difference between them is.If it just the angle they cut into em or a larger bolt pattern for the 5/8 bolts.Mine is tight, but I got it to fit.

Dan is an awesome guy.. Did you offset your axle slightly?

I had to give in a 1/2 inch.I'm sure with more time I could of got it perfect. But for what she is, a future ( current project) trail truck sittin on boggers and bead locks, I'm sure I'll never notice the offset.Thats why I was saying before, I'd just make my own perch next time.I even had some 3/8 angle laying around.

Heck, there was some post awhile back talkin about having a offset axle slightly and useing a 1/4 wheel spacer on one wheel to get it right.I don't know if I'll go that far with it, but I do have some laying around.

I decided not to outboard my 70 (similar frame width to a 40) when I put the 60 series axles in. Cut a notch into the housing.

Where are those little brackets the brace the ball on the axle from? I like them!

I have the same axles on my FJ40.

I thought the 70 series had square'ish axle tubes that were stronger than the 60series round ones.

(I saw some at 4x4 Labs and that is what Dave said, so I really have no idea what I'm talking about.)

You're probably thinking of post 1990 stuff with the 8" ring gear (like 80 series) Before that, they were just a narrower version of a 60 series housing.
