Central Pneumatic rivet gun parts interchange (1 Viewer)

I have HF's 1/4' air rivet gun and the piston that pulls the rivet shank out of the rivets won't let go of the shank. I used this gun for 3/16" and under rivets without issues but after the fifth 1/4" rivet, it experienced this issue. Called HF and they said they don't stock replacement part for this item as it is going to be obsolete. Does anyone know if this style of pneumatic riveter interchange this part with other riveters? I"ve tried a punch to hammer out the shank to no avail. Are these things fairly generic?

Is there a trick I'm missing?

You could try contacting Astro Pneumatic, their PR14 looks really similar. I have had good luck with them for replacement parts for other tools.
